Not Dounray - that isn't a coastline.

It's not the usual UK layout either. Looks more like continental Europe - France, Germany or perhaps even Soviet.

Wherever it is, someone is having a grim time of it down there...

I've replaced the first image as i have just noticed it had a "hand" cursor in the middle of it!

OK then, those earth banked revetments make me think 'Soviet'.

Too far east

After some further research, it seems that the current runway at this airfield was rebuilt on a different alignment than that during and after WWII.

Here is an intermediate image, taken while a shortened version of the original runway was present, with the new, and current runway in the process of being built.

And I have just discovered that there are two airfields in this image. Bonus points if you can name them both.

Schwabisch Flugplatz/Schwabisch Hall ,later Camp Dolan / Dolan Barracks, US Army Airfield.
Second airfield,possibly Weckrieden.
