Not a Challange
Just curious, but I recently watched a rather odd movie called "Churchill - The Hollywood Years"...
Churchill: The Hollywood Years (2004) - IMDb In one scene a Dominie taxies up to a control tower (carrying Hitler, Bormann and Eva Braun) Credits indicate some of the film was shot on the Isle of Mann. Is it from there?... http://i42.tinypic.com/312fp8m.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/2ijlnx3.jpg Cheers. |
|
Dunno about the airfield used in the Churchill film, but most of it was filmed in and around my home town in Devon.
|
Jurby - the tower is original and still there.
|
I'll start the ball rolling with Noyade's challenge.................USA?
Dave |
G'day Dave. We're not in the USA. My shot must be the green indicator...and the runways are a little south...

Possibly Uruguay?

Possibly Uruguay? |
Capitan Corbeta (Laguna de Sauce), Uraguay.

My wife moans at me when I do that.
|
That's quite hypnotic, LM.
But I have no idea which aerodrome it is though. |
WTF is TheChitterneFlyer ?
|
Chitterne is a small village on Salisbury Plain in southern England. As it is a small village the forum member may well be the only flyer in the village...
|
While we're waiting for TCF here's one I stumbled upon earlier today. I have no idea where it is - or, therefore, if we've already done it (probably quite likely).

Since you have no idea where it is, my supposition is Los Angeles International - KLAX. Am I right? Am I right? LOL !!

The runway pattern reminds me of Sleap, where I learned to fly, but it's a very, very long time since I went there. And of course most WWII airfields had a similar pattern.

Moreton Valance -- Google FCS! If we're going to keep this an interestingly and challenging place, can we at least be Google free? 'Tisn't hard.
|
Cuefaye, there was a time when sport was committed by gentlemen who would walk before being dismissed. :)
|
Fields look British
and the cows are British too.....
glf |
Are you sure about Moreton Valance? No sign of the M5! ;)
|
cgb
Quite so -- |
My humble apologies for my not previously declaring "Open House"... I've been away for a long weekend and I was distracted by on-going preparations.
Great weekend though! TCF |
|
duckbutt, if the M5 was there you wouldn't be able to see the runways!!
|
RAF Coastal Command middle east?
|
australia?
Somewhere in Australia I would think what with Ansons,Walrus( Seagull V?) Moth Minor and Bulldog(???)
|
|
Thanks but it might confuse some people with two up at once.
Anyway, I know where it is in Western Australia. |
Two posers at once?
Regarding the lovely photo with Ansons, a Bulldog, Walrus (Seagulls?) and a Moth Minor, I doubt that it's Point Cook as I can't fit the "L" shaped configuration with the hangars in the background. Not very far away at Laverton, perhaps? The second shot is Serpentine, WA. If I've got both correct, then Open House please. |
Laverton |
Open House please. |
norbert question. how do you guys post a photo that doesnt have the airfield name in it?
