Not a Challange

Just curious, but I recently watched a rather odd movie called "Churchill - The Hollywood Years"...

Churchill: The Hollywood Years (2004) - IMDb

In one scene a Dominie taxies up to a control tower (carrying Hitler, Bormann and Eva Braun)

Credits indicate some of the film was shot on the Isle of Mann. Is it from there?...

Cheers.

But, in the meantime, here's one not on Mel's list...

Lightning Mate 16th Jul 2013 11:22

Dunno about the airfield used in the Churchill film, but most of it was filmed in and around my home town in Devon.

Haven't a clue 16th Jul 2013 15:47

Jurby - the tower is original and still there.

Airclues 16th Jul 2013 16:13

I'll start the ball rolling with Noyade's challenge.................USA?

Dave

Noyade 16th Jul 2013 22:07

G'day Dave. We're not in the USA. My shot must be the green indicator...and the runways are a little south...

Jurby - the tower is original and still there.
Thanks for that. :ok:

cuefaye 17th Jul 2013 09:52

Possibly Uruguay?

Noyade 17th Jul 2013 22:59

Possibly Uruguay?
Indeed! :)

My wife moans at me when I do that.

nacluv 19th Jul 2013 14:09

That's quite hypnotic, LM.

But I have no idea which aerodrome it is though.

Lightning Mate 19th Jul 2013 14:13

WTF is TheChitterneFlyer ?

Bigt 19th Jul 2013 16:41

Chitterne is a small village on Salisbury Plain in southern England. As it is a small village the forum member may well be the only flyer in the village...

nacluv 19th Jul 2013 17:05

While we're waiting for TCF here's one I stumbled upon earlier today. I have no idea where it is - or, therefore, if we've already done it (probably quite likely).

Cubs2jets 19th Jul 2013 18:23

Since you have no idea where it is, my supposition is Los Angeles International - KLAX. Am I right? Am I right? LOL !!

Capot 19th Jul 2013 18:38

The runway pattern reminds me of Sleap, where I learned to fly, but it's a very, very long time since I went there. And of course most WWII airfields had a similar pattern.

cuefaye 19th Jul 2013 22:24

Moreton Valance -- Google FCS! If we're going to keep this an interestingly and challenging place, can we at least be Google free? 'Tisn't hard.

Cows getting bigger 20th Jul 2013 04:40

Cuefaye, there was a time when sport was committed by gentlemen who would walk before being dismissed. :)

Gulfstreamaviator 20th Jul 2013 05:24

Fields look British

and the cows are British too.....

Duckbutt 20th Jul 2013 10:31

Are you sure about Moreton Valance? No sign of the M5! ;)

Quite so --

TheChitterneFlyer 23rd Jul 2013 17:20

My humble apologies for my not previously declaring "Open House"... I've been away for a long weekend and I was distracted by on-going preparations.

Great weekend though!

chevvron 25th Jul 2013 10:37

duckbutt, if the M5 was there you wouldn't be able to see the runways!!

Lightning Mate 25th Jul 2013 10:56

RAF Coastal Command middle east?

ruthin 25th Jul 2013 11:11

australia?

Somewhere in Australia I would think what with Ansons,Walrus( Seagull V?) Moth Minor and Bulldog(???)

dubbleyew eight 25th Jul 2013 15:30

hey lightning mate..

http://www.n56ml.com/australia/070428524.jpg

while you wait try this one.:ok:

Lightning Mate 25th Jul 2013 15:35

Thanks but it might confuse some people with two up at once.

Anyway, I know where it is in Western Australia.

Dora-9 25th Jul 2013 20:42

Two posers at once?

Regarding the lovely photo with Ansons, a Bulldog, Walrus (Seagulls?) and a Moth Minor, I doubt that it's Point Cook as I can't fit the "L" shaped configuration with the hangars in the background. Not very far away at Laverton, perhaps?

The second shot is Serpentine, WA.

If I've got both correct, then Open House please.

Noyade 26th Jul 2013 05:23

Laverton
Well done Dora - your control mate. :ok:

Noyade 26th Jul 2013 05:25

Open House please.
Sorry, make that Open House.

dubbleyew eight 26th Jul 2013 11:10
