Would that be the mighty Mississippi top left?

...or in (American) English:
Decatur, Illinois. |
Well, I gave you the lat & long in the image. ;)
You didn't name the aerodrome; I simply saved everyone else the bother of looking it up.
TheiC is correct.:ok: Decatur, Ill. You have control.
I seem to recall that I posted this one previously but then immediately withdrew it (and deleted the image) following a question about its historical significance... I'm now satisfied it is a historically significant aerodrome...

Obviously an area with high rainfall due to the colour of the grass and the drainage ditch, so I'll start with.......
Is it in the UK? Dave |
Hello Dave,
No, this is not a UK aerodrome. |
The Stop sign suggests North America.
Wasn't this previously posted as a race circuit?
Wasn't this previously posted as a race circuit? |
...and regardless of how suggestive the stop sign might be, this aerodrome is not in North America.
Africa? Rings a bell somehow.
Somewhere in the Caribbean?
Not Africa, albatross.
Airclues? Airclued-up, I reckon... |
Might it be Gerald's Airport, Montserrat?
TCF, indeed it WAS Gerald's, now John A Osborne... I'd hoped it might be more challenging, and was very pleased when Airclues was led slightly astray with a photo taken in deliberately atypical conditions. Its historical significance is that it was built to replace the previous airport, on the east coast of the island, after the volcanic eruptions which caused so much devastation in 1997. Google earth shows the north-western tip of the previous airport's runway.
TCF has control! |
TheiC, I recall your previous posting of this particular image and I'd then turned my attentions to a different post in "Jet Blast/Where on Earth"... which turned out to be a private racetrack! Hence my previous question!
It took me a little while to find your latest post, but it was AirClues who directed me to the right side of the planet. By the way, what was the historic connection? Was it the big bang that closed the previous airport? Open House You'd posted the connection after I'd hit the send button! Many thanks. |

Where has Noyades "challenge" image gone?
Should be at the bottom of the previous page (201) mate, post No. #4020. Not there?
No image - just a blue box with a white cross in it.
still there for me (UK) LFH
Would it have anything to do with the Image Provider?
Anyway if the image is lost from the bottom of page 201 then I have an aerial view. Same island from the Seychelles, that needs a name... http://i42.tinypic.com/sc470y.jpg |
