Konduz Airport (OAUZ), northern Afghanistan?
|
Yes, that was quick. Over to you.
NATO Potato |
Thanks NP, here is the next aerodrome: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ir640/3319.jpg
|
Anchorage?
|
SSK is correct.:ok: Well done. You have control.
|
By the way, is the huge bear (which was allgedly shot within the airport boundary), still there - in the terminal building I mean!
|
A large stuffed polar bear is still behind a glass display case at PANC, however polar bears do not inhabit the south coast of Alaska. Polar bears are found in the circumpolar arctic ice pack regions, well north of Anchorage.
|
OK thanks. The last time I passed through PANC was about the time that photo was taken, and memory fades! I recalled it is being a brown bear, but perhaps its fur was getting a bit dirty!
|
If someone would like to post a photo of an aerodrome, now would be a good time.:)

I am a Boeing 747, and nobody loves me anymore. Where am I? http://www.artistic.flyer.co.uk/B747clue2.jpg |
Prestwick?
It looks like Dundonald Hill in the background......... |
Prestwick..............................
|
Sorry for leaving high and dry, thanks for filling my slot.
The most unloved 747 was the one that was blown up at Bruntingthorpe but I'm sure that's not the answer. |
Talkdown man has it. It is Prestwick with HMS Gannet visble in the background. It is the opposite side from the air terminal. I think that the 747 (freighter) had something the do with Polar Air, but I cannot confirm that as there are no visible markings. It has been there for years.
The Bruntingthorpe aeroplane probably served Aviation at large better than most despite its violent end. The Car Park was included as a bit of a Red Herring and I expected at least one 'Dunsfold' but it was not to be. To those that have done well: WELL DONE:D |
I had inserted a question mark so give it to Squadgy. Plus I don't know how to upload pictures! But I looked at that skyline from the tower many-a-time mid-sixties.
Go ahead Squadgy. |
Cheers Talkdownman - I recognised the blue buildings of Prestwick.
Here's the next one: http://www.egcb.flyer.co.uk/egaa.JPG |
Manchester. 06R?
|
Yes, that's right. Just remembered I used the same photo in another forum a while back :hmm:
Over to you again TDM |
I can't do images. Throw it open.
|
Here's something slightly different, just a hint of airfield! Two clues: it was in southern England and, as you will gather from the past tense, it no longer exists. Identifying the aircraft might give a clue to a 1950s holidaymaker who enjoyed spotting aeroplanes...
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...rfield1953.jpg |
Hamble........
|
No, not Hamble. The aeroplane, anyone?
|
Looks like a Miles U/c. Shoreham?
Dick W |
I'd say it's a Chipmunk.
Can't be Shoreham as that's still an airfield. Tangmere maybe, but control tower doesn't look right. |
Ramsgate Airport,Kent.
Sabredog |
Messenger at Lympne.
|
Ramsgate Airport
Well done, Sabredog, Ramsgate it was, on 4th August 1953. That's the old water tower in the corner, which was this grass airfield's well known characteristic.
And the aircraft was a Miles Messenger (well done the others), G-AHZS of Air Kruise, in which I had just completed my first flight. I cropped the picture to avoid an embarrasing public airing of short trousers and knobbly knees. Over to you, Sabredog. Graham P. |
D120A.
Thank you. Many happy hours spent at the said airport with it's Art Deco terminal, also home to the 438 (Thanet) Sqdn A.T.C. Quite beyond me to post a picture I am afraid, so it is open house. Sabredog |
Which Aerodrome?
|
CYMX - Montreal Mirabel. If I'm right, it's open house as (a) I haven't any digital pix to post and (b) I'm off to Mirabel's predecessor & successor, CYUL.
|
evansb's challenge
ICT _CLB, Sorry man, not Mirabel, (CYMX). Bon-voyage departe Dorval!
|
Wichita Mid-Continent Airport
|
Wichita Municipal Airport.........
Renamed Wichita Mid-Continent Airport in 1973...? sorry out of trim didn't see you post... |
evansb's challenge
Out Of Trim is correct.:ok: It is Wichita, Kansas, taken in 1954. You have control.
|
I don't think Out Of Trim is going to post a photo. If Jarvis has an aerodrome photo to post, it would be appreciated.:)
|
Here is the next aerodrome:
