Just shutting up shop and will be away from my PC for a while - somebody else should take over.
|
Here is a difficult one!!
|
I was looking at that self-same picture yesterday ... but where??
|
Secue, This a short term memory test, which you've failed. ;)
It was on here - then disappeared. |
People my age can remember what happened 50 years ago but not what happened yesterday. What was the question?

Another photo just to the left of the above, showing at least some form of active airfield status, even if it is only the fire section. |
Nearly 5 hours and not one bite. What would the locals think?

Tiger_mate's challenge
An Airfield in Cuba perhaps but which one that is the question? The old airport Varadero-Kawama perhaps.
|
:D :D Mel has control :D :D
Nowadays only used for tourist parachute drops and locals motor racing since the 'new' Varadero Airport was built outside town. Although you will find online comments that this is disused, I am under no doubt whatsoever that in the event of a military 'need', it would be reinstated immediately. This is borne of the fact that there are no permanent obstructions on any taxiway or runway, and as can be seen, the fire station remains active. Well done Mel, I think that this is probably about as difficult as it can get, and hope that when somebody does a similar one, that the clues are dripfed also. |
Next Challenge
Thanks Tiger_mate as you say there were many clues in your later photograph such as the Aerotaxi's AN2s together with flag aft of the cockpit window. This one I am sure will be easier.

Mel's Challenge
No takers? This 1930s airport used to be the main airport for the City it supports. Today it is still in use but for General Aviation.

Thanks Jarvis
I am sure this next one will cause no problems, this airfield played a part in the UK's Aviation Heritage. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...ortquiz007.jpg |
Mel's Challenge
This airfield was in the UK.
|
Brooklands?
|
Phileas Fogg
Not Brooklands, wrong end of the country.
Mel |
Now you refer to it as being in UK then you mention 'country', the singular of.
UK is 3 and a bit countries, might one presume that 'country' refers to England? :) |
Brough it is then
|
P.S. I don't know how to attach a pic on here, any advice appreciated.

You have control. Mel |
Hi, my first message so please don`t shoot me!
The airport at #209 is the Vienna International Airport in the early sixties. Linz Airport was not yet ready for the Saab Jets at this time. |
dash7fan
If you check Post #216 I suggested that the airport shown at Post # 209 was Linz-Hörsching which was a Civil/Military airfield which had existed since 1939. It is agreed that Linz (Blue Danube air haven) was not opened until 1955 however officially, it existed since 1939 at the location of Hörsching.
