Don't know if still there, but in 1999
there was a Puss Moth encased/preserved in the street outside Indian AL offices on this field. Replica or not, unsure, but it represented the first aircraft flown by J R D Tata, founder of Tata Airlines, precursor of Air India. Sorry, no pix to post - open house........ 'ZG |
Z-G . I think this is the one you refer to;
http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...oaALFZ5006.jpg I hope the sizing is not too small. A bit too technical for me to change I am afraid. |

SD is it Prague?

Piarco,Trinidad. Taken on the 16th, November,1954. A proving flight by B.OA.C
|
Mmm, bit short on detail there Sabredog, nevertheless you have it.
|
Thank you ,Duckbutt. Due entirely to the June,1996,edition of Aeroplane Monthly, which ran a series of articles on the Boeing Stratocruiser.
Open House,Gentlemen, as I have nothing to post. |
not as difficult as it seems - the clue is in the airline

Must be Gatwick.
Having said that , if it is I do not have anything to post! It is not Gatwick. Both eventualities covered! |
Not Gatwick, but think BUA route network.
|
So the 1-11 demonstrator would be on a hunt for new customers? Lagos?
(If so, then 40 years on, it was in the right country) |
Not Lagos but you are on the right track
|
Then Accra?
|
Not Accra!
|
Lusaka?
That's my third and final guess. |
Not Lusaka either I fear. Right continent though.
|
Nairobi ?
|
Not Nairobi.
|
Must be Entebbe then
|
Not Entebbe but a move in the right direction away from Nairobi towards West Africa. I appreciate there are no real clues other than the aircraft but from what I can remember it was only BUA VC 10s that flew the route normally.
