Freetown ?

KeMac 8th Dec 2007 23:21

Thats the one! Freetown - Lunghi. My dad was working there in the early to mid 60s when he took the picture. Over to you.

The SSK 8th Dec 2007 23:36

Oh help, I'm stuck.

This is the best I can do on the spur of. It is neither historic nor nostalgic, but pretty impressive nonetheless. I won't be around to confirm but he who gets it right will be in no doubt, so don't hold the game up waiting for me.

Is it the (ex)TWA Terminal at JFK?

BSD 9th Dec 2007 08:00

Tiger mate,

The terrain in the background to the right of the photo doesn't feature at JFK.

Beautiful building, which must be paying some architectural homage to the TWA terminal building though.

BSD.

Reimers 9th Dec 2007 09:59

The new terminal of Bilbao?

They were still building it when I was there last, but this might have been the result.

Speedpig 9th Dec 2007 10:55

I believe he's got it

Reimers 9th Dec 2007 12:51

So do I now, there is a picture on their website that looks similar.

Here is the next one, rather recent:

Not much to see, but the smokestacks do cause some turbulence when overflying the outer marker.

chevvron 9th Dec 2007 13:13

Are landers expected to go between them or to one side?

Reimers 9th Dec 2007 13:21

Following the Glide will take you above them, and there are no non-precision approaches from that side

dash7fan 10th Dec 2007 09:26

May be Stuttgart

Reimers 10th Dec 2007 12:22

Yes, it is Stuttgart.

dash7fan 10th Dec 2007 13:44

I remember only one chimney, when I was the last time there.

Nor to continue:

Seems to be difficult

The airport is in Europe, it is the home of an aviation museum. There is also some regional scheduled traffic and of course business and privat flying. At the westpart was, or is, an aircraftfactory.

India Four Two 11th Dec 2007 12:23

It was the aircraft factory clue that made me think it must be a lake and not the sea. I couldn't imagine a factory in a corrosive environment.

So that led me to LSZR St. Gallen, Altenrhein.

Open house if correct.

PPRuNe Radar 11th Dec 2007 12:29

Altenrhein perhaps ?

Damn ... too slow :)

From an airfield which bears no resemblance now to what it once was ...

So Gentlemen its open house

Duckbutt 11th Dec 2007 14:26
