I'll give you it StbD:D- It's actually BAN(Base Aero Navale) Aspretto.
It was originally a seaplane base(Cam 5s & PL15s), then after the war became a base for Breguet Alizes. Nord 262s are based there now I believe.

It is or was, a training base for the French SAS equivalent.

The land based airfield is now, as StbD guessed, LFKJ Ajaccio/Campo Del Oro.

Carry on chaps;)

StbdD 3rd Mar 2008 02:40

Cheers Andy. Right neighborhood at least!

Next challenge:

Considering the number of (apparently) Lockheed 10s (or 12s) - could it be Burbank?

Snifferdog 3rd Mar 2008 15:09

Thank you STbdD..don't know how I missed that!!

sabredog 3rd Mar 2008 15:37

N.A.S /RCAF Argentia,Newfoundland? (Hudsons)

Duckbutt 3rd Mar 2008 18:57

After searching around on the net it would seem that Sabredog is correct.

Bit of thread drift, my searching was hampered by the fact that the vehicles are all driving on the left but research following Sabredog's post shows that Newfoundland did not switch to driving on the right until 1947.

OK, carry on!

sabredog 3rd Mar 2008 19:32

Shall we have the courtesy to wait and see what StbdD has to say?

StbdD 3rd Mar 2008 22:50

Spot on saberdog :ok: . The floor is yours.

sabredog 4th Mar 2008 08:03

Thank you,StbdD. Open House.

Quite right S'dog, no offence intended, it was just an unthinking spontaneous post.

London Ashford (the original one not the present one) otherwise known as Lympne

chevvron 5th Mar 2008 13:34

See what you mean now JENKINS; too many hard runways for Lympne/Ashford.

LFT 5th Mar 2008 16:49

Well done Jenkins - Balado Bridge it is - I cropped out the givaway 'golf ball' radar. :ok:

621andy 6th Mar 2008 00:32

Sorry, not in New Zealand.

StbdD 7th Mar 2008 04:29

Seems time for a hint. These are B-25s of the USAAF Fifth Air Force over the aerodrome in question....
