Goose Green? That grass strip in the Falklands? Certainly not England, unless it's a USAF base. Damn you edited it before I pressed submit!!!
Not Goose Bay or Goose Green. Right side of the pond though.
Could it be RCAF Namao?
For The SSK, Check thread #2690. I've posted a photo of Lisboa airport taken airside in 1962 showing the first TAP Caravelle on the apron. Note the new control tower has the old tower's rotating beacon. The older photo was from a postcard from which I cropped out 'Lisboa Airport'.
TAP operated DC-6s. The Turnhouse terminal building of the 1950s does not resemble the buildings in my photos of Lisbon. I can't speak for the double-decker bus except perhaps that it does appear to be driving on the right-hand side of the road. I do know Lisbon is noted for trams. |
OK then; that guy under the intakes appears to be having a Gander at something.
Not Namao or Gander. There weren't many places the V bombers were allowed to go as they were considered such a valuable asset. This was a regular destination.
Offutt A.F.B. , Nebraska?
Correct. Headquaters of Strategic Air Command and a regualr V Bomber destination. This was taken by my dad in 1960. A Valiant crashed at Offut in 1961.
You have control. |
Thank you,D.W.
The joys of " Western Rangers" in winter! Open House. |
Toronto, Terminal 1, circa 1962-3, with a TCA DC-8-40 and a Vickers Mudguard behind? Open house if correct.
Montreal, Dorval ???
Twochai is spot on, carry on.
Sorry, I'm on the road and must declare 'open house'.
Twochai |
Mmmm, Looks German..........Tegel???
Gosh, don't you find some startling sights if you go searching for pictures of Beavers on the internet!
 |
Mannheim-Sandhofen, Germany.
Not in Mannheim, or Berlin-Tegel, but it is in Germany.
Rose AAFB, Bonames, Frankfurt?
Duckbutt is correct:ok: Bonames-Frankfurt. Home of the U.S. Army's 5th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment and 503rd Aviation Company. I think the base closed in 1992.
You have control. |
Anduki Airport.Brunei? Percival Prince P.50
You're far too good at this Mr 'dog! Still it lasted over an hour.
Over to you. |
Thank you D.B.
Open House, once again! |
Clint,
Please check your P.M.s T.T. |
I assume it's still open house ? So will try this one, I think it may be small, but well formed !!!! Keith

Well that definately looks like a USA, but in UK, control tower, I'm sure I recognise it but cannot be sure from where, so I'll guess at Lakenheath having driven down that road from Brandon many a time :)
Oi Mr Grubby, was Sabredog with us at LATCC in 1970 then?
Reminds me of Bentwaters..........
Sabredog
And I thought I was the only ex-LATCC who flew Sabres---or is it just a name?
Shack,please check your P.M.s.
Gentlemen, may we draw a line under this? It's becoming almost a "chat room",and diverging somewhat from the main thread. P.S . I agree with Phileas Fogg that it could be R.A.F Lakenheath. |
Good evening people, without saying too much, It's not any of the above ? Keith.
Greenham Common perhaps?
R.A.E. Thurleigh, Bedford ?
Looks like Greenham Common. The tower is still there and some of the trees but not the buildings.
It is slightly too high for Greenham
OK, time for a little hint, so far four, very well educated, attempts, but none correct yet. ??
57.08 31.36 67.52 134.06 These are the distance in UK miles that each attempt is from the target (as the crow flies) (straight line) but not necessarly in the same order ??? Keith ! |
Upper Heyford, he speculated wildly..
Sorry Speedpig, your attempt missed out on my previous caculations by one minute, but alas it is not quite correct ?????? Keith hmmmm ?
