Which Aerodrome Mk III
www.ukairfieldguide.net/airfields/Angle
This airfield is of note because in May 1943, a Sunderland landed here instead of nearby Pembroke Dock due to the fact it had a massive hole in its hull.

And to think that this WIWOL did his first tour at Wattisham !
Some of us used to frequent The Bell at Kersey. The landlord had two gorgeous teenage daughters and two of us invited them the officers mess summer ball in 1969.

Yes, Elmsett, and Open House. Not too far across the swede and potato fields from Wadi Shamm. The huts there made for an uncomfortable night when visiting, cold. The Angles, of course, being the 'South Folk' of that invasion, ergo Suffolk. Claret may have originated from French, at the time British, ho-ho, grapes being trampled on the large estate at Clare, 40 minutes down the road.
Elmsett, lovely place.

Lets try another one..................
Active from the '30's to mid 50's I believe and then closed in the early 60's

I see your point but no - warmer - it's been re-roled into various business and sports activities
It's In the N hemisphere but in general it's warmer than Yorkshire - not too far from the sea so doesn't get v v hot - off out for the afternoon
Ta' Qali, Malta? (RAF 1939 - 1968)
National footy stadium (but the pitch shown is the 'Centenary' Stadium), motor racing, aviation museum and a craft village with glass blowing works in the old nissen huts.
OH if correct.

Not Malta and not N W Italy - similar climate tho'
It was used as an air base - not sure if it ever had any civil flights - this is the only picture I've found so far of it's war time form - you can see the old layout today but you have to know it was there

I didn't but it's not too far off a N orientation - the road network has been upgraded but is remarkably similar to be honest - part of it seems to be a truck park at times
We are..... and it was the Civil War that it was built for.................
