We are not on an Island, so that answers two questions in one go.
We are in a gulf area - that gives you a number of choices
The accommodation blocks
I've got one more photo - which has the name/number of a squadron based here. Do you want it now?

If you look at a map of the Masirah and zoom out until you can view from India to Egypt, there are three named "Gulfs" in view. This airfield is in the area of one of these three.
Once you know which one, I'd imagine the forty choices should reduce in number.

Yes Jenkins I am, as it is Sheik Othman in Aden, over to you.
dook - beaten to it by 15 minutes.
It looks like there is a small amount of runway remaining - Bing maps shows this much clearer than GE.
The gliding reference came from here.

Thanks, not been there since 1956, visiting parents from school. There is one within this chapel, albeit not this chapel, Argosy and Belfast pilot, who writes occasionally about the Gliding Club. I gather there had been a Transit Centre at Sheikh Othman in WW2.
OH I regret.
