ve3id has it in less than 30 minutes London City it is,
Over to you.
I was across the river at the University of East London where my daughter was competing in a basketball tournament. Much too good an opportunity to miss for this thread. Took some photos in daylight, but went home in the evening and thought this one was much nicer.
Am updating the spreadsheet today !

If you make a Wikipost you can probably put the spreadsheet in the attachment.
The Wikipost shows on the top of the thread as a blue bar with a + at the right end.
Wikipost
We could also post the thread rules there.
Succes!

The spreadsheet used to be a sticky - along with the what cockpit. No idea why it was removed from that list.
Just passed dook's first successful identification - to which he had to pass with an Open House - no way that would happen today
All of Heathrow Harry's photos have gone, and I've (so far) only come across one challenge where there is no photo now, Jenkins correctly identified it (post has long gone), but the poster didn't say where it was in their reply WIDN62 posted the challenge on 25/09/2017.
edit to add: some more - page no, poster
- 361 WIDN62
- 392 CGB
- 400 HeathrowHarry

nvubu,
Would you like me to help with this ?
I have a 2 terabyte drive and I could create a directory and save every image challenge along with the dates posted and solved, along with the challenger and solver.
I am retired and spend time each day on the thread.

Good idea to post the thread rules somewhere folks for all to see, should save any confusion, to me certainly & others, prior to posting up any images.
Very nice photo of LCY by Nvubu.
All the best for 2019

Thanks WIDN62,
dook, not much point in saving the images as only the post owner can add them back into the post apart from by the original poster. If a poster deletes images from their pprune album, the images in the thread vanish as well
Spreadsheet all up to date. Taken me about 12 hours to go through almost two years worth of postings. Glad to see that Jenkins has stopped deleting his posts as it was driving me to drink.
Got a few missing ones, will list them in the morning. Will look into the wiki thingy as well.

On disappearing old pictures wasn't there some discussion (under computing thread?) that at one time some people used a PPrune system where you stored your pictures in a folder on the board - but it had a limited amount of space so people had to delete old pictures , I don't know but there were also references to some other, old, commercial, site (like Instagram ) that had changed its rules and a whole bunch of images had gone south when people refused to pay for what had been a free service??? There seem to be a lot of posts asking advice on uploading pics so I presume it was a lot harder a few years back than it is now???

I've expanded the information being collected in the spreadsheet to include Country, who set the challenge and who solved it.
Here is a read only link to the spreadsheet - clicky - feel free to have a look and make any suggestions.
We have a clear "winner" for 2018.
dook set the most challenges with 72 and also solved the most with 55.
Jenkins is the runner up with 40 challenges and 34 correct solutions.
290 separate challenges in 2018. which is very respectable after the thread died a death in 2014/15/16. Long way to go, however, before the 371 challenges of 2011 are reached.
I've been trying to ask the mods if there should be a new Which Aerodrome IV thread as the previous two were too big at just under 300 pages, whereas we are now up to 550. Can't contact PPrune Pop as his mailbox is full, and not sure if I've managed to send an email to the site.
We need to come up with the text for a wiki. Here's the original set of "rules"
There is a comment on the first page of the fist thread by evansb that it shouldn't become a What Control Tower or What Terminal Building thread. I think that there's no problem with the occasional post of a Control Tower, terminal building or hangar, so long as there isn't a succession of them.
Some further

We need to come up with the text for a wiki. Here's the original set of "rules"
- A historic picture of an aerodrome will be posted. Newer pictures are allowed but the theme here is to compare/contrast old with new as well as identifying aerodromes which no longer exist.
- The person who correctly identifies it will be declared the 'winner' by the original poster.
- That winner shall either post another challenge or declare the floor open. Anyone may then post the next challenge.
- There will only be one challenge running at a time.
- Try to use elderly photos and not Google Earth pics
- Try to post images that are not already present on internet, as Google Image Search will find them if they are.
- When confirming the correct location, the location and winner should be stated to negate any deletion of posts.
- If the winner of the challenge does not respond to the notification of their success within 24 hours, the thread shall be declared "Open House"
- If Open House is declared, time should be given for those who are not great at naming the correct location but may have some good images.

It isn't really the photos that are the issue - and yes the old Pprune album had a limitation so for someone who used this exclusively (HH springs to mind) their old challengers are devoid of pictures.
Also when one of the free image hosting sites decided to implement at $399 annual fee for third party hosting all their images disappeared. They have come back now, but I know I went and removed all my images from their site and now post through my OneDrive that comes with Windows 10. My guess is that others did the same and jumped away from that platform.
So there are a fair number of challenges where the photos are missing, but the name of the location is still in the thread. I would suggest that these aerodromes could be revisited as there will be no duplication of images
It is when the posts are removed (you know who you are ) that is frustrating, as there are a fair few examples where a challenge has been made, then you can only see one side of the chat with posts saying no it isn't "X", and then the final answer say, "Well done abc, your turn now", and there is no indication of where the aerodrome is It is nice to see that these deletions have stopped recently
dook - I wouldn't bother, so long as the name is stated when control is handed over, that should be fine.

Great work nvubu.
Perhaps that should be included in the rules to avoid future problems.

Try to post images that are not already present on internet, as Google Image Search will find them if they are.
My next challenge succeeds in doing it but reading your document I find it has been done before. However, I don't know what that image was but I suspect it's not the same one or aspect of the first one. Would that mean it's acceptable to post it ?

I know you have, but beware, when one knows that you are manipulating a GS image, the right search terms will allow the same image, but unadulterated, to pop up - Your Speke challenge for example (Fred Olsen C-46 hangar)
I would have thought that if there is no image in the thread it would be OK, but don't repeat one that has been done within the past year or so. This year there have been 10 repeats.
With the disappearing images, do you remember the jaunt I took you around Africa to end up at Gura in Eritrea? When completing the spreadsheet, it turned out that I'd posted the same challenge before , but as the images were on Photobucket then had long gone . I reckon I probably used the same images. The first time around it didn't last very long.
