No, wrong tail.

Whatever that is
It was a long shot

It was the 60 HP Le blond 5 cylinder radial engine that interested me…..

In view of that statement I am wondering if this is American? Certainly looks it, but Aerofiles normally provides some engine details. Or is this a machine that is offered with different engine options?

It is indeed American Ken, but it is, perhaps unusually, not in Aerofiles at all.

However, the one available photograph of it is on the web.

I was reluctant to post this one, but after Regs' last one I decided I would.

You know me - clues will be forthcoming soon.

No date available, but you must be close.

One built, which is now archived in a certain American museum.

It's listed in the US aircraft registrations site.

The company was founded by three people and was based at San Leandro California.

Is it the Sierra BLW-2, from 1929?

The picture I have is identical, but it is in Aerofiles.

I did say it would be worthy of a round of applause.

All yours.

Thanks David. Nice one - when you said it wasn't in Aerofiles I went for my books - and found the same photo in one of them!

Here we go:

As you are at home, why not play this a bit different. Honestly, I don't even know where to start with this one. So what would you recommend me to do first?

I mean, I can list attributes that are pretty obvious, but what then? I have nothing printed out here.

Let's move this one along. American, in Aerofiles. Picture is there too.

Edit...our post's crossed Reg...but looks like we both had the same idea!

OK American, in Aerofiles. The tail fin looked a bit that way.

Engine: 9-cylinder radial, with sort of cowling. From 1923 - 1935…

Problem with Aerofiles is that the data is in pages containing quite many links to pictures, and once you have a hit, all pictures form that page come out as images in Giggle Image. Is there a work-around?

7 cyclinder radial...one aircraft built of this particular model (modified from an earlier model), appears in photo's both with and without the cowling.
1923-35 will cover it!

Not sure how you are using it - I just use the search facility in Aerofiles itself and is I bring up each page I used the "find'' to search the criteria I am looking for. I've never searched Aerofiles using Google.

Now there are two of you, another clue....just the one built, which was modified from a very similar looking variant. Pictures of both variants are in Aerofiles.
