chevvron,

I think you have the right country, but Old Rheinbeck is grass only.

I'm guessing East Coast, but further south than New York.

Most definitely southeast US with all that kudzu growing off the near end of the strip. My guess Tennassee, northern Georgia or northern Alabama.

Looks like Elkin or Jackson County NC, both surrounded by dense forest.
More likely to be a private Fly-in Community.

OBP
not Elkin or Jackson co.
but it is in North Carolina.

it is not a private site, it has a entry in the AFD for the south east US.

one other clue
the runway is 09/27

more clues in a couple of days.

correct RegDep

Air harbour W88.
which is just inside the class C airspace of Piedmont Triad Intl (KGSO)

i took the photo this septrember when i was out with a good friend of mine who was doing my flight review.
a interesting strip with a significant slope so you need to land 09 and take off 27.
Great fun

so open house it is.

Flyingwing, do you know what the large building by the water is? Not asking for a clue, the challenge seems solved.

Russell Gulch has it. Skeabrae - close by its former RNAS neighbour at Twatt. You have control.
