Thks Leader3 - thats a bit of nostalgia for me - I learned to fly there about 10yrs ago.................as I was looking at the picture, it became more and more familiar - did about 100hrs outa there so it would have been a poor show not to get it!
I digress, OPEN HOUSE folks and thanks again...........
PS when I was there (Anglo American), a retd USAF Colonel used to rack up from time to time and fly his P51.........our FTO emptied at the alert call and we used to stand and gawp, green with envy...happy days

same for me sid,
i did my PPL there about 6 years ago.
the airfield is now home to the only airworthy Fairey Firefly
and it lives in the hangar right next to my old flight school.
i checked the list and could not belive that Gillespie had not been on before.

Yes sir ! Well done.
It is indeed Helena Municipal Airport, Helena, Montana.
Helena, the State Capital of Montana. This photograph was taken in 1940.
Apart from a visit from Charles Lindbergh in Sept. 5/9th 1927 when he was on the Grand Tour after crossing the pond and a quick stop on the night of Nov. 3rd 1938 by Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt who was en route to Seattle, nothing else seems to have happened here.
Over to you.
Tack.

Thanks Tack. I visited Helena 6 years ago, and saw actor Gary Cooper's boyhood home. I am unable to post the next challenge until approx. 2345Z. If a fellow ppruner has an aerodrome photo ready to post, please go ahead.

evansb, although now a bit past 2345 Z, guess I'll fill the slot:
I know you can't see the aerodrome itself, but if you can correctly ID the aeroplanes, it will become obvious.
Cheers,
Tom
