Mechta - is it a Short machine? A design by Arthur Gouge?

Hi Ridge Runner,

No its not a Short design. Its not British, German, Japanese or Russian either.

As my previous clue got a bit lost, here it is again:

Clue: The designer later became well known for this type of aircraft (I don't mean 'rustic'). After the company merged with another, several employees went to the ironworks.

I'm at college today, so I won't be able to check between 1.30pm and about 5.30pm GMT.

Good afternoon gentlemen.

It looks as if Dr. Who has been on thread!

Just to let you know I won't be around much until the weekend. I shall keep the odd eye on the thread in case TC wins a challenge.

If that's the same ironworks after the merger as with a floatplane I posted some months back, then this thing was American.

Would it be the Liberty Ironworks and its' association with Curtiss?

LM, Its not the Liberty ironworks, but the designer's own company eventually became part of the Curtiss empire.

Lessons are starting now, so I will be back on when I get home around 5.30pm.

Rather than a Herring I gues its a "product" of Burgess? I can't find any reference to it though! RR

Things are evidently moving a bit slowly on this challenge, so here's another clue.

The manufacturer, but not the designer, shares its name with a very famous rock band which recently changed labels and is having its recordings digitally remastered.
