Silhouette challenge
but at least with current technology I don't have to lift the Hammond organ on stage anymore...
Now then, the challenge. I have found something similar which eess Eetalian. However, that's a floatplane.
So is this Italian?

LM, glad the pc's performing ok. Bearing in mind the database problems pprune seems to have on a semi-regular basis I wonder if there is an underlying problem somewhere?
And talking about performing, thanks for the background on the music John...any of your tracks available on the web? I'm afraid my musical talents are somehat limited (in fact make that totally useless!), but I do enjoy listening and I make no excuses that my preferences are really 60's-70's era!
Back to the challenge....not Italian guys.

LM, did you just delete your last post timed at 1525?
I went to do a reply but its disappeared from the thread. Anyway the engine is not a Le Rhone, but it does have 5 cylinders.
And less of the BOF if you don't mind!
The engine looks like a 5 cylinder air-cooled radial, so I am guessing a Le Rhone

There is an exceptional amount of forward stagger on the challenge, which I would describe as a sesquiplane.
However, I said that I would keep you company for a while, which I am able to do no longer until later tonight.

Time for another clue
The manufacturer is well known and was a major producer of aircraft. They were absorbed into perhaps a more famous aircraft manufacturer in the 1930's.

Welcome back LM. Not French. Head east.
Next clue - the engine is German.
Hi RegDep....our messages crossed there, but you can disregard the Shvetsov in light of my comment above! Hope you've had a good weekend?

Any chance that the engine was Shvetsov M-11?

Good, although I guess I still have the counting of grand children to look forward to! Can't say I'm in any hurry though! Nice relaxing weekend here, enjoying the sunny weather.
So any ideas on the challenge?

Summary of clues so far on the challenge:
- built in the 1920's
- well known manufacturer and producer of aircraft which was absorbed into another very well known manufacturer in the 1930's
- European but not French or Italian
- German 5 cylinder engine
I can add that the manufacturer is probably best known for its WWI aircraft.
With that I'm closing down for the night.

Good night.

Sorry to have kept you up late RegDep
Well done, it is indeed the Albatros L.71. There's a good article on it in Flight which unfortunately misquotes it as the L.72, but does give a good background on the aircraft and its development.
