but at least with current technology I don't have to lift the Hammond organ on stage anymore...
Ah - a keyboard man. I used to play jazz/blues piano! Could just span a tenth with me left 'and.

Now then, the challenge. I have found something similar which eess Eetalian. However, that's a floatplane.

So is this Italian?

LM, glad the pc's performing ok. Bearing in mind the database problems pprune seems to have on a semi-regular basis I wonder if there is an underlying problem somewhere?

And talking about performing, thanks for the background on the music John...any of your tracks available on the web? I'm afraid my musical talents are somehat limited (in fact make that totally useless!), but I do enjoy listening and I make no excuses that my preferences are really 60's-70's era!

Back to the challenge....not Italian guys.

LM, did you just delete your last post timed at 1525?

The engine looks like a 5 cylinder air-cooled radial, so I am guessing a Le Rhone
I went to do a reply but its disappeared from the thread. Anyway the engine is not a Le Rhone, but it does have 5 cylinders.

And less of the BOF if you don't mind!

Every time I attempt to make a change to a post I can see no reflection of what I have done!

Dunno wot went or wot arrived - but at least you got the BOF.

There is an exceptional amount of forward stagger on the challenge, which I would describe as a sesquiplane.

However, I said that I would keep you company for a while, which I am able to do no longer until later tonight.

I would too, although the term is not mentioned in the description of this aircraft.

I note that you are "not here"!

Time for another clue

The manufacturer is well known and was a major producer of aircraft. They were absorbed into perhaps a more famous aircraft manufacturer in the 1930's.

To me, then, that makes it French.

Hi all and greetings from the backwoods of nowhere,

Any chance that the engine was Shvetsov M-11?

Welcome back LM. Not French. Head east.

Next clue - the engine is German.

Any chance that the engine was Shvetsov M-11?
Hi RegDep....our messages crossed there, but you can disregard the Shvetsov in light of my comment above! Hope you've had a good weekend?

Thanks, weekend was fine, and I keep traveling the rest of the week, counting grandchildren in my native land (backwoods etc...).

Good, although I guess I still have the counting of grand children to look forward to! Can't say I'm in any hurry though! Nice relaxing weekend here, enjoying the sunny weather.

So any ideas on the challenge?

Summary of clues so far on the challenge:
- built in the 1920's
- well known manufacturer and producer of aircraft which was absorbed into another very well known manufacturer in the 1930's
- European but not French or Italian
- German 5 cylinder engine

I can add that the manufacturer is probably best known for its WWI aircraft.

With that I'm closing down for the night.

I will close down, too, with the guess that we are talking about Siemens Halske Sh 4 engine....

Good night!

East of France, good grief.....

Still here...its described as a Siemens 5 cylinder radial of 55hp rating but I'm sure its the Sh.4.

Good night.

Couldn't give up

Albatros-71 (here a picture of one of the two, D-519). I think the only (experimental) pusher Albatros (later Focke-Wulf) made. Probaly, I guess, .....

NOW good night. If correct, OH; I'll sleep late.

Sorry to have kept you up late RegDep

Well done, it is indeed the Albatros L.71. There's a good article on it in Flight which unfortunately misquotes it as the L.72, but does give a good background on the aircraft and its development.
