Morning mate....how's work, keeping busy? Fairly quiet for me at present so I'm going to go out and cut some logs for the Winter! If Mechta is not back soon, and assuming it is the Francis, I'll have to go OH - no doubt you may have the odd one or two up your sleeve?

Yes, but being a silly bugger I've left them at home.

I can get another ready in about 30 minutes.

Morning-ish,

I have this one listed as the Paterson Twin Tractor Biplane. Apparently one built for Roy Francis and one for Frank Bryant whoever they are...

Nice. Mine aren't ever that pretty. Mainly installs for security systems these days. It was all more interesting 20-30 years ago with stints at Cranfield, various BAe, Marconi & GEC sites and many others...

Hi John....it goes to show it depends on where you search! Aerofiles lists it under Francis (as designer) but constructed by Patterson. The picture on the Pioneer website is the same as the one on Aerofiles, so who knows. Having said that its now clear where the 3-view came from so Mechta may view it as the Patterson.

So whats the engine LM? Clearly not a Hall-Scott!!

Signing off now so catch you all later. OH if Mechta awards it to me.

its probably listed as the Bryant... elsewhere as he owned the other one lol. Interesting second pic showing how Francis developed the back end of his one.

My 3-view source lists it as the Francis.

I'm off as well now for an hour.

So whats the engine LM?
A schematic of the RR RB-211, drawn to explain triple-spool high bypass fan architecture. Father of RR Trent.

Send lat & long of Mechta.........

I'm lonely out here on my own!

There's a very good reason that it looks like the Scraggs Last Laugh and that's because it is!!

Here you go.

Goggle "1930 racing airplanes" and go to page 18.

The Last Laugh 1930 = Similar to those dartlike paper airplanes we all used to make, this was a narrow delta-wing with about a 75-degree sweepback; 90hp Curtiss OX-5. It had elevons and twin rudders. The pilot sat in a closed cabin under the "wing" [10648]. Scraggs was a tailor—and somewhat of a visionary—who prophesized that his airplane would one day revolutionize the entire air industry. The creation was test-flown successfully at an altitude of 10' (that's not a typo!), and Scraggs predicted an eventual top speed of 300mph, but he, his airplane, and the last of his laughter eventually faded away. Name also noted as Scroggs.
