I thought it would be an interesting one!

Yours, a French machine maybe?

Must admit I was looking more at the hangars than the aircraft! So was the photo taken in France? The aircraft itself, a 2 seat trainer by the look of it....lets expand the search...from western Europe?

Possibly, I can't say as I don't know mate. Yes, European. RR
PS: as I can find almost no reference for it on the web I'd say that it might have been in France but possibly not - helpful aren't I?!

There is some likeness to the BFW M31 from Germany, although I think it is older than that....is it German though?

I'm beginning to wonder if its British....we did produce a lot of 2 seaters of similar appearance. Time to look at the books!

SABCA S40 maybe?

On closer inspection, no. Just to confirm, there appear to be 2 open cockpits....is that right?

I'm the only one on-thread and dunno.

I can find almost no reference for it on the web
It's the word "almost" which is my only hope.

Hi David!

I googled it and got two items listed, both from the same source! However I have located it and a partner machine on an on-line civil register for this country, not that it really helps!

Morning. I've been working to the assumption that this is a trainer....was it actually built for another purpose...may be competition?

The fact that its on a civil register on-line would imply that they are still current? Or is it an old register?

Like my own recent challenge, I'm wondering if this is from Czechoslovakia?

Good morning all,

Judging by the effort that's gone into it so far, I don't think I'm going to make much progress during this coffee break!!

I'm a little suspicious about the tailplane, the "fin" looks a little small and there's some funny highlights that seem to make it look as if it's a twin-fin or a butterfly. Is this correct or is it the result of the silhouetting??

Sorry Skytrain but I don't know its purpose. I imagine it was a trainer.

It is on an old register. I can see at least two listed. Not a Czech either!

TC, it is the result of silhouetting only. It had a single fin.

Ok....is it from a central European country, or should we be looking at Western Europe?

Ah, thats blown one of my theories....well, we've ruled out the 3 biggest aircraft producers from western Europe....that should make it easier shouldn't it!! So was I close (geographically) with the SABCA S40?
