Actually I think that maybe I was going to post it!!! It is American. My image was from Air Pictorial. It is something like a "Smith SM-1" or a similar

Has this particular fighter pilot got a thing going for 1960 Air Hostesses of Pacific Southwest Airlines? That looks like a Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar of PSA.

Mel, yes I think you're right, despite the "distractions" I'm pretty sure it is a L1011...and could well be PSA.

Now how about a more recent (but sadly demised) airline:
