OK guys, here's a bold statement, which will undoubtedly piss off some of you.

This thread is unique on internet aeroplane challenges/competitions.

The thead is becoming more like Aviaquiz.

This is called "Silhouette Challenge".

Let's keep it that way please.

No obscure photos, no white-on-black line drawings or white-on-black, which are not silhouettes.

......and yes, I have been guilty as well.

My two-penneth - sorry.....

I know where the door is, I'll get me coat and hat............bye

Well, its buggered my next offering, which is one of those fancy crops again, but I don't have a problem with going back to silhouettes, if that's what everyone wants?

Looks like Zetec2 is there....to be more precise I would say its the SA227-TT Fairchild 300, variant of the basic SA227-TT Merlin IIIC.

I thought you were the one who canvassed for departing from the silhouettes mate? I'm more than happy to go back to it!

Oh, and ....
The "Tadpole Clipper".
My reference to the mini-Mariner! It was quite obvoius but I had to go and work!

Didn't see you at the terminal opening today David.... (not that I know what you look like!!)

If I can add my support to LM's statement.

In the last few months it seems the forum has deviated from what was (as far as I am aware) a unique competition on the web, to one that has become a yet another ID the aircraft contest. To be honest I had lost interest in it, and judging by the inactivity of certain previous regulars, I am guessing certain others had as well.

I suppose ultimately its a case of what everyone prefers, but as I think someone said some time back, if the view is that it should be open to photos, bits of aircraft etc, then consideration should be given to changing the name, and out of courtesy, to consult with dazdaz, since he was the one who started it.

I had better start finding some more challenging silhouettes now!

Silhouettes

Well, David, you've opened up a real discussion! I'm okay with what we've been doing but Skytrain is right, we have lost some members following thr change. I support the idea of getting back to silhouettes. However, I agree with Richard that we should include 3-views as long as some attempt is made to make them a silhouette.

Good morning Martin.

Mel has said "you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time".

I was simply a little unhappy that we were losing some of the thread players, which is not a good thing in my opinion.

Making a 3-view into a pure silhouette with no detailing is very easy.

Personally I shall post a single three-dimensional silhouette from a photograph.

I have, however, been enjoying some of the recent banter that has been appearing - no point in being too serious and I'm all for that sort of thing (Graeme take note).

So, onward and upward with challenges and more merry banter.

David
