There's too many similarities there for me Mel, I'll drink to that and sod-off home now! Well done one11! I think that RR is correct about the angles, it's probably slewed round a few degrees and taken from lower down, also about the "thingy" being a primitive bombsight with a view over the leading edge.
Night all, keep up the good work

You guys should work for the police, detective skills extraordinaire. Lot of posts but I think Doug got the closest first and I was willing to accept either Ryan as the answer...
Already running late for work, so well done one11 Congrats and your control!
I'll post the larger photo and details later this afternoon. Everyone done their egg shopping? Cheers.

And that thing actually flew?
Well, I'm away now until Wednesday - off to the outlaws in Mallorca. If I can I'll get on at some point to check the detective work. Meanwhile have a great Easter everyone....

Sodit skytrain, you just beat me to that.
I found it by looking at Gypsy Major engines. The gear does look right to me, in that, unusually, the legs were at almost exactly mid-span.

LM, I am still not convinced....the gear is very similar but I have found a photo which clearly shows struts outboard of the undercarriage legs. And whats really bugging me....I have seen that photo before...sure its in one of my books somewhere..

You guys are correct it is the Miles M13 Hobby.
I understand the struts in the photograph you have seen were fixed braces/struts that were put in place as a last minute fix before the Kings Cup race. They could not get the retract mechanism to work properly and so apparently they installed the braces as a quick fix.
