Though I can't find any decent pictures of it, i think it looks like a Supermarine S.4, which was designed for the 1925 Schneider Trophy

Hello teusje - welcome back.

Sorry, but this aeroplane had nothing to do with the Schneider Trophy, and the S4 wing was not cantilever, which this one was.

Oui Richard.

The Koken ki or Kokenki Built by the Tokyo Gas & Electric Industry for the world distance record flight.

Achieved 7240 miles around a triangular course, over 62 hours, in 1938.

The only FIA record ever achieved by Japan.

You have control.

I believed ,it 's would be longer You have the control.

My source gives the same builder name for the Koken-ki and for the RT-1 :both are T.G.D , T.G.D Koken and T.G.D RT-1

Cheers
Richard

Thanks Richard.

The crowd makes photo cropping unnecessary.

G'day David! Actually I was about to watch an episode of "A Touch of Frost" but do I detect some sarcasm above? Should I stick around longer tonight?

How's Easter treating you?
I don't recognise any of those people.
The caption calls them "coolies". Would that be politically incorrect these days?

Ye gods that looks familiar, isn't that a second separate cockpit? I'm thinking of something American with retractable gear from the 1930's that looks akin to the Northrop Delta/Lockheed Orion class but a long range 'trailblazer' of some sort.

Of course I could well be miles off

LM, "the S4 wing was not cantilever" I was sure it was, not being wire braced like the S.5 and S.6?

At the drop of a hat I can show you a "coolieless" photo of the mystery aircraft. Just say the word.
