Blimey Skytrain10, you seem to have us all stumped! By the look of it it was intended as a contender for close-support/COIN role judging by the hardpoints and the cannon. Its probably too "rounded" to be Russian, how about US?

Good evening Noyade....not the M-17, and not Polish.
Time for some help I think....this aircraft was to be the product of a major European manufacturer but was actually designed (although never built) in response to a requirement in another continent.

it's the Aermacchi COIN project of 1972 (AKA mini-A10) requested by South Africa and Portugal. To be powered by a Rolls Royce/SNECMA M45H, there was also a version with two of the same units over the wings. Nothing built as it was too expensive.
Clean Sheet Designs: Swarms of Lightweight Scout/Attack Aircraft (about halfway down)
Open house as usual I'm afraid as offline soon!

Close enough SincoTC...its the Aermacchi MB-344, designed to reach a South African requirement for a COIN aircraft. To keep costs down it used the wings of the Atlas Impala.

Thanks Skytrain,
I didn't manage to find the designation on the link I posted and was about to follow the "secret projects" link therin (where I should have found it), when the power went out here. I added my link when it came back but had too much to do to follow the other link up.
Good Challenge, there's been a few hard to track down ones of late!
Off home now, y'all keep up the good work, see you Monday.

You have it HarmoniousDragmaster . It is the Fairey F155T 'Delta III project.
Artist's impression of this aircraft.

Fairey drew on their experience with the Fairey Delta 2 (FD2). Their first proposal was a single-engined fighter development of the existing FD2, which was felt to have good export potential although it did not meet the RAF criteria laid down in O.R. F.155. A larger twin-engined design tailored to the operational requirement followed on from this, which became known simply as the "Delta III". A fighter-bomber derivative of this aircraft was also envisaged, with Bristol Olympus 21R engines coupled with a large ventral drop tank giving a much-improved radius of action at low altitude.[citation needed]Fairey, like some of the other manufacturers, felt that carrying 4 missiles was too onerous especially given the size of the radar guided Red Hebe and provided designs based on a payload of only two missiles. They also took the mixed power route for both the FD2 based and the new 'FD3' designs, with both making provision for the fitting of de Havilland rocket engines.

Thanks Mel, thats one of my favourite 'coulda/woulda/shoulda' planes, the British Foxbat.
Complete change of pace with this attractive little thing, which was unbuilt as far as I know.

British? An extension of Michael Whittaker's MW2 Excalibur?
German? Project from Rhien-Flugzeugbau?

Skytrain scored a direct hit, it was indeed the Brookfield BA-1, whos designer was, I think, also responsible largely for the Beagle Pup/SA Bulldog and Bassett.
And I thought it was obscure
You have control, sorry Graeme, I can see where the RFB guess came from though

Thanks HD. I would definitely rate it as obscure, however in fairness to you, I had found details of it in Flight a few months back and had intended to submit it....you beat me to it!
