Chiglet, not a Convair.

To make life a bit easier on this one, it never went beyond the design stage.

I feel as though this thread is mocking me! (not you guys, just the thread)

Why?

Because everytime I get to look in at the thread its the same thing, two I knew that have gone followed by one I don't that is the current one, with uncanny regularity. Thats why I was so quiet.

Nothings changed but I thought I'd have a go anyway.

Is it French? A development of the Nord Griffon maybe?

OBAman....don't worry, I go through similar phases. Today they have just dropped into place for me!

It does look a little Griffon'ish, but no, its not French.

My second stab in the dark was also going to be Vought as the rear end does have a look of the F-8 about it.

Evening all...not a Vought project, and not from the US.

Good night...over to Noyade and EvansB for the UK night shift!

Very well done EvansB...spot on, it is indeed Saab project 1300 from 1956. Looks like a mix of Delta Dart and Crusader!

You have control.

I'm just wondering where Walter-Karl and xchox have gone.

I get the feeling that Noyade is about to post another unfathomable aeroplane (that is, at least to me!)

All I can come up with at the moment is a plan view and a side profile ...been a long day and my electric blanket is beckoning me. (Are WE going to win the Ashes? )

Clues;
Two seats.
Delta wing.
Conventional tail
'Planned' to have two Rolls-Royce Avon Engines.
'Designed' to achieve Mach 1.5 at altitude.
It was a contender for the Vampire replacement programme.
Circa 1949.

It certainly is John! In the end we went with the Sabre.

Control is yours.
