Given the YAW meter, and the drag chute lever, it is probably a prototype, North American jet. I'll guess the YF-93A.

You're in the right ballpark Brian, but it's not the YF-93A

Okay, I think I've determined the identity of the mystery cockpit. The North American F-107A Ultra Sabre ?

It is the North American F-107A Ultra Sabre as evansb correctly surmised.

I did wonder if you'd posted a kind of intimated answer in the wrong thread Kitbag, coincidence or what!!

The thread is yours Brian, evansb has control

evansb is correct!

The Piper TG-8 was an adaptation of the Piper J3 that was used as a training glider for the US Army. The engine was removed and the structure lengthened to accomodate a third pilot in its' place. It was actually triple control and was loaded front to back for C of G purposes.

230 were built and I believe there are two complete airframes and a third mostly complete airframe existing in goriginal form (some were converted to powered J3's). None of the three are assembled. I have every reason to believe that the fabric remaining on this example is 100% original.
