Not Langley, and not Moody, in Georgia, but tprop is getting closer. The mystery airfield was originally civilian, but in 1941 it was taken over by the USAAF. The field was returned to civilian hands in 1949.

Are we discussing auxilliary fields in Georgia,or should we be searching further south, geographically speaking?

It is not in the state of Georgia. Go west. It is not an auxilliary field. It was home to two B-26 squadrons during WW.II. The airport is presently the 'GA' field for the city. The original runways are still visible. Portions of the apron seen in the photo are still in use.

sabredog is correct Opened in 1928 as Davis Field, the name was changed to Hawkins Field. Known as Jackson AAB during the war. It is located WNW of Jackson International Airport. You have control.

Thank you, evansb. Interesting photograph of the 70th and 69th Bomber Squadrons. Must have been taken some time between Nov.41 and Jan.42, prior to the Group departed for the P.T.O.
Open house, again!
