When that photo was taken (getting on for 40 years ago) there were only about 60 flights pa. I think its fair to say the field is somewhat more busy these days! As can be imagined the facilities are a bit less primitive as well.

I can't decide if the "white stuff" on the ground is salt/sand or snow. Also, are those all clouds or is there a ruddy great hill in the distance?

The airfield is in China,but now operational only to G.A. traffic. At least, this was the case up to 2006, when I lasted visited. Still visible on Google though.
