Cool

Well here goes - my first attempt following various advice regarding posting photos and using photobucket.

One of several fuel stops at Lossie while I was there late 90's.

Hitching a ride home from Akrotiri I found we were fuelling what seemed to be all of SAOEU on the way!!!!

Plenty more if these work out!

cheers,

Mustang A68-113 at Townsville, Australia in 1953. This aircraft was taken off charge and was eventually bought by the well known British racing car driver Ron Flockhart. He intended to fly it to England but was killed when he flew into the ground near Melbourne in low cloud in 1962.

Breguet 763 at Darwin in 1954. I wonder if any of these aircraft are still flying?

Nice pics - sadly no Breguet "Deux Ponts" are airworthy - think they ended their flying days by the early 1970s, a couple still exist in France.

Interesting about Ron Flockhart and the Mustang - I seem to recall a link bewteen him and Kallista (sp?) in Oz - was that where he crashed? Is the actress Calista Flockhart's name a coincidence?

Treadigraph. Don't know about the actress name but Kallista was where Ron Flockhart went in. He departed from Moorabbin for Bankstown VFR (he did not have a current instrument rating) but was caught in low cloud trying to get under the weather and seemed to have been disorientated.

RNZAF Hastings from a Lincoln over Arnhem Land, Australia. Hastings was en-route Amberley to Darwin. Circa 1957.

Mr_Grubby

Yours pics of aircraft at St Cyr back in the sixties brings back memories. Both aircraft were there when I visited on 1 Jun 1961..visited again this year, and Cub F-BBQZ (44-80329) is still there in good condition, albeit in pieces but obviously undergoing restoration.
Please see your pm

Nothing found in my PM file. Can you try again.
I have about 350 black and white 'photos from the early '60s taken in the UK, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium.
I have put them all on a Cd. If you want a copy I'll send you one.
Let me know.

brgds.

Thought I'd give Photobucket a first go....

Could be 1945 'Somewhere in NW Europe', but it's Duxford, October 2004. I think the re-enactors (if that's the term!) lend a bit of atmosphere....

Had some great skies for a backdrop that day...

This is from my 'day job', on one of my sadly infrequent drives out on the airfield. BMI airbus passes my future place of work.

It's funny, whenever my colleagues and I do get out on the airfield, this is always our first stop!

I rant? Never thought I was the ranting type.

Treads, wilco! They reckon next October, but methinks it might slip backwards!
