To be fair, they are administrators, they generally know nothing. That claim is so absurd, it’s definitely true if it’s coming from EY.
Link is probably the exit option here for the regional areas. Near free equipment, staff available, and Virgin who can flog sales off via its website. They will need capital however to make such growth happen.

Post #805 from MickG0105 has an article by Robyn Ironside indicating the Rex SAAB 340B fleet consists of 57 aircraft of which 25 are 'parked'. Before everything changes, I checked the Australian register and those 57 are still listed with "Regional Express Pty Ltd" consistently as the Registered Operator. The Registration holder varies across three of the Rex group companies as follows, in order of registration details:

Where in the company the aircraft are held, probably doesn't influence what will become of them. Their condition is obviously the important factor.
The only other SAAB 340's (also all 340B variants) currently on the Australian register are the 11 now operated by Vee H Aviation Pty Ltd (Link Airlines) of which 7 seem to be owned by Vee H while the other 4 are apparently leased aircraft.

FNQ: Skytrans (Gulf & TSV routes)
S-QLD: Link Western runs. And or Qlink to Roma/Charleville
NSW: most routes are in competition with Qlink.
VIC/TAS: Sharp across Bass Strait, possibly Link on others.
SA: Sharp again (Ceduna, Coober Pedy etc).
WA: Skippers to Carnarvon/Monkey Mia, Nexus the rest.
Personally I’d rather see Rex emerge under new ownership. Fix the engine issues, throw $$ at the training department and start making money again on the core regional business.
But I also think the “Rex must survive cause the bush needs it” argument isn’t as strong as some think. There are enough players to make it possible to fill the huge gaps left behind.

In an interview with Robyn Ironside Jane has mentioned, although they may have been open to supporting REX, there was never any plans to take it over. Considering Bain's overall plans for VA, that makes perfect sense. With the Liquidation of the airline now looking more likely, I guess the issue of support is becoming somewhat moot.
Someone conveniently not mentioned recently is the REX CEO. I think it's probably (hopefully) a given that he will have no further role after this sad saga concludes. Although he will most likely have to look for somewhere else to live?

VH-PAG has filed plans to NAN (and assumedly onwards to MZJ via HNL) for storage, joining VH-RYU. It was predicted PAG was going to join REX and RQP in CGK to prepare for return to VA, but doesn't seem to be case anymore.

Next step would be a break-up of business into constituent parts and sold bit by bit. It's a lot slower and the liquidation costs are higher. There is little chance unsecured creditors will get anything.

Only one or two separate AOC’s to separate out.. the routes would go from Government to another suitable operator leaving nothing to sell by a maybe a few cheap Saabs and some parts etc at 2C’s in the $1

Not just Link. Between the operators around Australia, there’s probably the ability to cover 95% of the single operator routes provided by Rex. Maybe not in a Saab, but it could be done.

Obviously there's an appetite from some, if not all, of those operators to step up:

In post #814, I listed Rex SAAB 340B's on the Australian register. Intermittently this past weekend and today, I have been monitoring Flight Radar 24 to see which of their aircraft are operating around the country. So far, it has been 24 of the 57 that are registered (see last column of list below). That isn't to say more are not also airworthy.
