In an interview with Robyn Ironside Jane has mentioned, although they may have been open to supporting REX, there was never any plans to take it over. Considering Bain's overall plans for VA, that makes perfect sense. With the Liquidation of the airline now looking more likely, I guess the issue of support is becoming somewhat moot.
Someone conveniently not mentioned recently is the REX CEO. I think it's probably (hopefully) a given that he will have no further role after this sad saga concludes. Although he will most likely have to look for somewhere else to live?
Hopefully that CEO and the entire management committee are out sooner rather than later. In my opinion, there’s been competency issues accompanied by ignorance and not always putting the best interests of the company first. Any buyers would be smart to remove them all as a priority. The CEO should be first out, despite his apparent attempts to play the victim in all this. He’s out of his depth.
