I guess that’s why we have a pilot shortage at every level of the industry then. And a lack of pilots electing to train.

Too many Pilots.

The reason for the terrible conditions in Australia is essentially Boston Consulting, Oldmeadow Consulting, Geoff Dixon further compounded by Alan Joyce and essentially a Monopoly on air services.

The ship will turn, just like it did in the states. It’ll just take time.

By no means am I suggesting Diamonds are great but eventually these attitudes will have to change with how many schools are using them nowadays.

The attitude of ‘GA’ to anything built in the 21st century is pretty awful and shortsighted. If someone is switched on and has good mentoring they’ll pick up a new light piston pretty quickly.

And here I was thinking that there are not enough Pilots being trained to meet the airline's demand in the next few years.

The MOST beneficial thing that can ever happen for industrial relations is the 1500 hour rule. Love it or hate it, the effect it's had putting upwards pressure on US wages is extraordinary.

That would be a godsend to Network as everyone <1500 would be applying there as I doubt such a rule would apply to charter and drives wages through the floor.

I suspect thats not how the 1500hr rule works… I suspect most of the cadets and low time FOs would be driven out. Thus the operator would have to lift Ts and Cs to get applications. QF has tried 457 visas oh so many times as a solution to low pay but now is realising that we are getting to 2nd or 3rd world pay rates

As if the entire approach to EA negotiations wasn’t already devoid of ethics from QF IR, it appears management are now ambushing pilots at the gate. Did the pilots not get their message across at the meeting? Only an organisation fearful of the outcome of IB would engage in soft harassment to get their vote up.

Would that not be considered a safety-of-flight issue given AJ grounded the airline and ordered taxiing aircraft back to the gate on the pretense of "not wanting pilots to be distracted with IR issues"?

They obviously havent learnt anything even after the $250k fine yesterday relating to the ohs rep in sydney who was trying to protect his crew whilst being ordered to clean an aircraft just arrived from China.
They say they have apologised to him, mmm pigs might fly too.
I wonder what has happened to the grubby little IR manager who knew better than to maybe listen instead of deciding to go down the path of bullying & intimidation.
Whatever tactics are being used now, these pilots need to write everything down asap after they have been ambushed by these morons.
Could be great info for to use in a fair work case.

I would have indulged in a long long conversation with the individual and flight delayed accordingly

First question should be “what’s your bonus if this gets up?”

there are no disinterested observers pushing wheelbarrows
