Don't fall for the lies and half truths the company stooges will hit you with.
If you have any questions ring the office or speak to a member of the exec directly. The cancelling of all anual leave should be taken by all as a sign that we are expected to be extra vigilant in our jobs.

Oldmeadow needs your help!

Why can we not discuss this rationally, i still see no firm direction or communication, it seems that if somebody has a slightly different view they get shouted down, unionism to my way of thinking is not based on this , robust dialogue and what ifs must be debated.
I see no harm in being open here, this is a serious matter, do any of you think that the company cares what we say here anyway, their agenda is set, all i want is a comfort level that the same can be said for us, and i dont see that at present.
If we cannot have open discussion then our collective positions are at risk.

Nice try, can you let us know what the company plans are?
Stooges are digging for answers, Oldmeadow your time is up! Take our piss poor managers with you, all the cash you have been paid won't buy your soul back

I would suggest that the threat of Industrial Action is the only thing that QAntas takes seriously.

Unlike when flight attendants threatened action in 2003, and they trained 1000 scabs to replace them, replacing LAME's is a very different proposition.

Flight attendants can recieve basic training in a week. Replacing a LAME would take years. Rest assured there will be some among your ranks like anywhere is that will not have the stomach for Industrial Action, there will also be scabs that Qantas will bring in.

But if your collective resolve is strong, then you will have ea good chance of Qantas taking you seriously.

Word of advice...dont pin it all on the 5%..although the money is important, you will find more flexibility in the negotiations on things other than money that could add up to more if disguised appropriately.

Good luck to you guys...you have a lot of moral support from other Qantas employees including the flight attendants

Remember. The deal Qf offered was definitely crap. We could not sign it in it’s present form. The ALAEA Exec are doing a sensational job. Good work boys.
Like your mum said, if you don’t stand up to the bully, they will always bully you.

As for Strike Breakers. What a laugh. BE SERIOUS.. There is 1700 of us. Even if a genuinely good permanent LAME job was available, exactly how many LAME’s do you really think they could get in 2 weeks. This is a management tactic and could not work.

Between inductions, QA, CASA and ASIC’s, you could offer $1m /week and they still could not be on shift signing QF a/c by the 9th.

Put yourselves in their shoes. I would be very worried if I was M or DC.

Devil

When profits fall by 50% (A$750,000,000.00) do you think to guy/guys that

caused that will have a job anywhere in the world to go to?

I don't think so.

Remember what you have been told by CEO's of past, Don't work harder, work smarter!

Do it NOW!

I/O has made a career of stringing these things along, and why wouldn't he?. At 3000 dollars a day would you?, oh yes and his own consultant being a former AIRC official would attract a fee also.
I'm sure Bracks, Brumby,Carr,Iemma get the satisfaction knowing they employ this guy whos loyalty is with the highest bidder and whos intention is undermine hard working Lames and their families.

He reminds me of the Roman Soldiers playing dice for Jesus's clothes on calgary.

Don't know how the Boeings will be going but I don't think there will be many A330s flying come the start of the action.
Airbus crews being dismantled + too few licenses + temperamental A/C = a lot of ground time
Jet* will be hardest hit, bring it on guys.

Keep the Enemy at the Gate & Close Ranks

Perhaps now is as good a time as any.

All those posters here who are "real" paid up members of the ALAEA,you should now be posting your voice and concerns at the closed/inhouse ALAEA website.Within the official ALAEA forums you will be reading legitimate posts by legitimate posters. The waters will not be muddied by DC & co.

The ALAEA forums are closed to those without the correct password access. The address is:

www.alaea.asn.au

At least in here we will not be intimidated by QF stooges and managers posing as "real" members of the association. And you will be able to receive the correct infomation as posted by the Exec, and not your current manager.

PS this should be done for the duration of the current PIA,as PPRUNE is certainly a worthy site for infomation to the masses, but as seen here,it can also be used by those who mean to do you harm. Now is the time to close ranks and keep the enemy at the gate.

Happy New Year

Question

Is it not possible though that people in senior positions with QF (or any Airline), as long as they still hold a Licence, to still be members of the ALAEA?

the alaea forum is pretty much dead the last lot killed it thats why we came to pprune. Its correct that the lame forum will get rid of the non union members and will be more on the union line very much needed in the coming days. I myself apprecate the wide opinions of all posters here stooges or hardline unionists it is after all a rumour network.( ps I like to thank pprune for hosting us and letting us post on what is a pilots website)

Sorry Bug-a-lugs, but the alaea forum is not closed and my user id for the forum is not my user id used to access the rest of the site. Any one can create a forum user id.

The alaea forum has been a waste of time thus far unfortunately and every time Priority Left comments the thread dies!

Maybe we should have a members only section of the Alaea forum

Some time ago, I vowed never to utter another word on this forum but as an ex Qantas LAME (a long time ago), keep on reading the proceedings involving my earstwhile colleagues. Your skills definitely require brains, intelligence and education. Sadly, some of the posters here demonstrate a certain lack of the use of the English language in spelling, punctuation and sentence construction and more importantly, appropriate phraseology. Do we ever see any posts here from management calling LAMEs slime, mugs, vermin, cun#@ etc.? No we do not! If you want support for your just cause, please moderate your language and you might get some. Cheers, HD.

That's due to the lack of trust in it after the previous ALAEA administration was caught out altering posts.

I think Priority Left was trying to kick start it but failed.

As suggested, a private forum is the go. However, if run by the ALAEA, can they legally exclude 'management' LAMEs.

Anonymous forums a great for rants and sledging, as evident on Pprune. However, a forum with a set focus, and controlled membership, perhaps has to loose the anonymity of it's members to maintain some security.

Maybe look at Google groups with membership restricted by having to be vouched for by two other members.

Just found this...

People tend to stick to the facts more and don't get too silly as they are not anonomous there. It would certainly help the FAAA get their message accross and assist in productive discussions with members. Personal insults and vilification decrease substantially when people have to use their real identities.

AUGUST KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES
  • Full-time adult ordinary time earnings rose by 5.2% for males and 4.8% for females in the twelve months to August 2007.
  • In the twelve months to August 2007, full-time adult total earnings rose by 5.1% for males and 4.9% for females.

Please explain GD why you refuse to even meet the national average change in wages when the financial statements are in a healthy economic state?

It is difficult to understand why Qantas wish to go down this path under the current economic climate.

2% aggregate

What is the montary value of this extra 2% aggregate that is so sticky?

Well lets say the average LAME is a grade 9 ie. $1484/week.
2 percent = 29.68/week multiply that by 52 = 1543.36/annual now multiply that for 1700 LAMEs = $2,623,712.

In the grand scheme of things, that is f..k all, or one-third of Dicko's bonus share allocation for his marvellous contribution to aviation.

It is only slander if it is not true.

I think we're safe.
