Stage 1

Jacdoy101

I sat Stage 1 on the 18th and have not heard anything yet either. I am sure the HR lady said 2/3 days.

How many questions did you answer on the last two tests. I did 38/50 and 36/40 not sure if this was enough?

Anyone else?

andyrik 23rd October 2012 18:14

@Jacdoy101
@Piplysmelie
Also sat on 18th! Not sure to be optimistic or pessimistic! Left about 8 on P1 but finished P2.
Fingers crossed! It was all a bit hit and miss!
I'll keep you updated from my end.

Stage 3

Hello.

I was invited to attend stage 3 on 1.11.2012. I am of course very happy, but one thing keeps me on edge. I recieved 2 emails, one of them was totally empty, in the other one the link to interview FAQ was broken. So the only info I got is the date and time and to dress smart. I would love to know if there is something im missing out on.

If not, I am perfectly happy, but if there is some piece of info I dont have, plz let me know guys. Thanks Much!

owensamuel 23rd October 2012 21:17

I also received the blank email for stage 3 it seems like everyone gets this so I do not think we are missing out on anything.

See you on 01/11!

Stage 1 18th oct

@andyrik
@Piplysmelie

The HR lady did say that although it says 15 days they were aiming to turn them around a lot quicker and we should hear in a few days, we have had the week end though so it's only been 3 days up till now . I did 46/50 of the diagramming and was pretty confident, the cubes threw me a bit but still managed 36/40, slightly less confident on them though. From some of the people I have spoke to, it is as much about accuracy as it is speed. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow !

sportzbar 24th October 2012 20:23

Still waiting to hear?

Just a heads up for anyone who reapplied in July, I emailed HR because I hadn't heard anything since then apart from the standard 'Thank you for your application for the above position. We are currently considering your application and will contact you as soon as possible'.

I felt that I wasn't alone in not hearing anything so let it slide thinking that they were inundated. However it is now the middle of October and so I decided to send a quick e-mail to HR.

Turns out they have no record of me re-applying in July even though I have the email confirming it.

I have been advised to reapply again which I intend to do but if it has happened to me how many others out there are affected?

If you are still waiting to hear, drop them an email to see if they have lost your application too......

Sarah_Lou 25th October 2012 08:46

I'm in!!!

Just found out I passed stage 3... Am in complete shock!!

Big thank you to all those 'in the know' on here who have helped me through. Really appreciated!

Sarah_Lou 25th October 2012 11:06

TR24 25th October 2012 11:25

tommymac 25th October 2012 12:15

Kimmikins 25th October 2012 14:53

Sarah Lou

Congratulations! Have they told you if you'll be on the November course?

Sarah_Lou 25th October 2012 14:58

Kimmikins

They've told me I'm provisionally on it - obviously subject to medical and security clearance!
So excited!! Are you on November?

Kimmikins 25th October 2012 15:06

Yup, I'm on the November course too (again, subject to medical and security clearance!)

Sarah_Lou 25th October 2012 15:24

Oh excellent :) have you made any plans for moving etc.? I only found out today, so am starting to realise how much I have to do and how little time....

Harida5a 25th October 2012 16:39

I dont understand something

There is 'Air Traffic Control for Candidates at...'

- page 5: Class C! airspace (...) above FL195 in the London and Scotish FIR
- page 6: Airspace above FL245 is classified now as class C

So ? FL 195 ? or FL 245 - slightly different...

Loz_89 25th October 2012 16:43

I sat stage 1 on Thurs and still haven't heard anything. Anyone in the same boat?

kibo55 25th October 2012 17:14

Ahh congrats guys! I'm genuinely really happy for you all and I guess it shows that I really shouldn't be down-hearted at all for failing at my first attempt... althought I'd be lying if I said I wasn't upset about falling at the first hurdle! Just like you guys though I am determined to try and try again and hoprfully with the experinces I will be less nervous next time and of course now that I know what to expect I can practice until my next attempt.... How long is it I have to wait though as some people are saying it could only be 6 months??

jonnnny 25th October 2012 17:31

I just found out I passed stage 3!!! Did mine on Tuesday (with Sarah) go us!!

Now to get EVERYTHING sorted ready to start in 1 month tomorrow provisionally :/

Crazy Voyager 26th October 2012 09:15

@Harida5a

I think the reason it says that is because high level airspace used to be classified as A (and possibly B for TRAs?), I'm sure the people around here who actually are ATCOs (unlike me who is still not even in training, waiting for english test results and hopefully if I pass them a course allocation) can clarify that.

So basically above Fl195 you have class C airspace, and used to have Class B for TRAs and A for Airways above FL245, but to harmonise the airspace everything above FL245 is now class C.

At least that's how I understood it.

Harida5a 26th October 2012 12:11

...

On 30th I have got my stage 1 :) Without pressure, without stress I wanna check am I able to pass this test. I am not able to be ATC for sure - I havent got a chance because of my English.

I just call it: Curiosity :)

Thank You for the answer byt he way.

Jof_1999 26th October 2012 13:49

Class C

If there is no TRA active then all airspace above FL195 is class C. If there is a TRA active then the Class C airspace is above FL245.

Crazy Voyager 26th October 2012 13:57

But the TRAs are also class C, aren't they? :confused: I'm confused now, perhaps I've not understood this after all...

Jof_1999 26th October 2012 14:42

Within a TRA radar service are provided in accordance with ATSOCAS (air traffic serives outside controlled airspace). Lets just say we are getting into way too much detail for stage 1.

For your stage one learn everything on that info sheet and you will be fine. I suspect the fact that you picked up on the discrepancy means you have put some considerable work into learning it. I therefore suspect you will be fine on the exam.

eddtr1 27th October 2012 08:56

Hi All,

I have my 1st stage this Tuesday. What should I expect from the day. I mean what happens when I walk through the doors, is everyone registered and then we go into a test room do our tests and then wait around for the results or is it spilt up into sections. Just trying to get a general idea of how the day will pan out?

Also what kind of maths is involved and how much emphasis is there on it during the 1st stage assessment?

Thanks.

Harida5a 27th October 2012 22:40

eddtr1: regarding math, just read forum :) I studied from page 1 to the end ;)

KravMaga88 28th October 2012 14:28

Stage 3 tomorrow

Hi everyone,

I am going for my stage 3 interview tomorrow morning at 07.15. Just about to get my flight down from Glasgow. Anyone else going and staying at the Premier Inn tonight?

LGW_08R 28th October 2012 15:49

Finally

After waiting for near 2 months to hear the outcome of my stage 2, I finally got put out of my misery today.

And surprisingly it is good news! Invited to attend Stage 3! Over the moon right now, as I thought all hope was lost! Fingers crossed for the final round!

Congrats go out to everyone getting through the system right now, good luck with your training. Hopefully I will join you!:ok:

Gradient 28th October 2012 17:49

Good for you LGW_08R, good luck for your final stage!

Kimmikins 28th October 2012 19:50

Congrats LGW, ruins the theory of "if you don't hear straight away, you've failed" though ;) Good luck for your Stage 3!

popcorn-goes-pop 28th October 2012 20:01

Hi

Just wondering if there is anyone who's still waiting for stage 1 results from around 03/10?? I know there are alot of people on here who have heard and passed and i have a friend who has heard and failed from the same date. Do you think I should contact NATS, im pretty sure i've failed...but there is always that little bit of optimism at the back your mind!?!

Jof_1999 29th October 2012 15:31

Waiting to start training?

Is anyone who has already passes stage 3 interested in a facebook group, rather than cluttering up this forum talking about the logistics of being at the college?

rr9 29th October 2012 17:55

@mellow

my email says 0715 gmt.

Mellow1 29th October 2012 19:16

I questioned it and got this reply:

The invite should be showing as 7.15 (BST) if you can make sure you are in our reception area by 8.15 (GMT)

Kind regards

ATCO Recruitment

Surge 29th October 2012 19:38

Take no risks, assume it's 7.15 local plus we are no longer on bst
