Give them a ring, what have you got to lose? If you don't find out you're in the same position as you are now, apart from you maybe able to get a more up to date time scale.

sambatc 26th November 2010 09:49

done that already :E no reply from them.... (left a message - from the ~50 phone calls I've made to them they never pick up...)

PhiltheReaper 26th November 2010 13:23

Dale I sat it in the session starting at 13:30 at Bournmouth too!

Are you confident about getting through to Stage 2?!

J_TUF 26th November 2010 16:24

Hey,

Does anyone know a direct link to download the ATC guideline document for the initial test stage??

Thanks.

PhilB
Phil,

I am quite confident about getting to stage 2 but it's hard to say as i've never sat these tests before, fingers crossed though.

How do you think you did?

By the way, good luck to anyone awaiting results

Dale

PhiltheReaper 27th November 2010 17:23

I'd like to think I did pretty well, so I hope I get through, but I'm trying to take things a step at a time. I feel I can do the training and the Job in the end, so I'm just really keen to do my best on these tests so I can have the chance to prove I CAN do it! :P

Maybe see you soon at stage 2 ;)

Phil

Morning all,

Curious to know if any of those that sat Stage 1 in the early morning session on 24th Nov has heard anything back yet?

Some people have...

I sat the 10.45 session on the 24th November and I haven't heared anything yet.
I was under the impression that the results would be released in 15 days?

Some people have...
The people that have found out .. was it good news?

AArkley 28th November 2010 14:56

Dale,

I think it was up to 15 working days; the only news I have heard is that at least one person has been invited to sit an online personality test... Whether or not that's good or bad news I'm unsure.

Ta,
Adam

Crazy Voyager 28th November 2010 16:43

It's 15 working days I belive, and I was there on the 11th and still haven't heard anything (but no news is good news I hope:O)

Dale9990 28th November 2010 16:44

Adam,

I think the personality test is the next part of selection .. so must have been good news for him/her.

I wouldn't worry about it, just sit tight and good luck.

Regards
Dale

sambatc 28th November 2010 18:39

aarkley - how sure are you that someone from the 24th has had their results?

RiskyFowler 28th November 2010 21:40

Hi!
Anybody knows what the ICAO language test is?

hatemyjob 29th November 2010 00:22

I have my stage 2 in 2 weeks and I know there isn't a lot I can do to prepare as it is primarily aptitude based but does anyone have any tips on how they have prepared?

PhiltheReaper 29th November 2010 11:01

Good luck on the stage 2 HMJ,

on the Personality Test, I'm not aware of anyone passing stage 1, and then failing before reaching stage 2. I.e. not "passing" the personality test. Anyone able to shed light?

It is my presumption that it is used more to help with the Interview, and perhaps help to decide if you are going to be area / aerodrome/approach?

Cheers in advance,
Phil

gazb2 29th November 2010 11:15

Hi everybody,

Only 4 days till my stage 1 in Prestwick (@ 9am) and I am just trying to study every aspect of the test process fully. I have tried very very hard to memorize the ATC document (and have now did so) and studying up on my S/D/T - which is becoming easier/faster...but I'm a little worried about the next tests (spacial reasoning and diagramming) as I'm not too sure what to expect, although I have read the forums a million times over, I'm just not sure of how difficult the cubes are, or what an easy way to solve them might be...

Will be seeing some of you on the 3rd - good luck to everybody waiting for their results !!!!

sambatc 29th November 2010 11:28

some people on here have "failed" the personality test, yep...

PhiltheReaper 29th November 2010 12:17

bummer! Is it one of those "choose the most/least out of:"

I have/am:

Good Leadership Skills
talkative
a team worker
patient

??

I properly don't want to fail on personality! :O

"Mr Day, we regret to inform you that you have the aptitude, but we think you're a bit of a dick..." lol

Phil
P.S. thanks for the fast reply sambatc!

unrealdream 29th November 2010 14:05

I'm still waiting on my results from the 11th as Crazy says, no news is good news, but it doesn't make the wait any more bearable!

darn 29th November 2010 14:21

Re the personality tests.

As far as I can tell, it's less about your implied personality and more about the consistancy of your answers.

Even though the questions are all worded differently, they are all asking about the same 4 or 5 (or whatever) personality traits. So don't answer one question saying that your decision making is slightly better than team-work (for example) then say different in the next one.

Just my thoughts. Good luck to you all.

Hi Adam,

I was also there on the 24th, 9am start. Were you? (I don't remember talking to any adams) If so, where were you sat? I was sat in the rear left :) (Unfortunately near an arrogant ?$!£ who laughed at some peoples wrong answers and was quick to say how easy it was - hopefully he failed!)

I'm yet to hear anything either, how did you feel it went?

Still in contact with anyone? I am with a few and none have heard anything as yet, but time will tell.

Regards,
Victor Blagbrough

AArkley 29th November 2010 17:06

Victor,

The happy chappy I believe you refer to was called Xander, a Dutch gentleman who'd driven over from Holland the day before in order to take part in Stage 1; he then left to drive home straight afterwards! You may take some solace from knowing he didn't find the Spatial Reasoning or Diagramming so easy!

I was sat immediately to Xander's right; about 5 rows from the front, 2nd column in from the left, next to the poster about Lateral Separation if it helps! Frankly, I thought I'd failed having not finished the Maths paper, but was quick to realise when we were taken to the other room that it must've been ok (how often do they put you in a more comfortable room with pencils and rubbers to tell you you suck?)

Not in contact with any of the others from our session, so havne't heard anything of them. All I know is my progress, which is about as quick as you'd expect...

To Darn & Phil;

I'm negligent to pass on any information that I know of about the personality test; the whole point is that you're honest and truthful about the questions, else the responses become about a fictitious personality, rather than the test takers!

hatemyjob 29th November 2010 18:26

has anyone got any tips for preparing for stage 2? Im a bit at a loss and only have about 6 more full days of preperation.

That picture is actually about 10 years old. The prestwick centre is in down the road prior to the A. You can expect to see a builiding looking like this. It is just a field when you look on google earth.

Hi, I've got my first stage test very soon but I have a problem.

I have recently been diagnosed with Crohn's, news I only received after I had already applied and passed the initial online test.

Now I'v looked at the NATS career site and it says the Gastro Intestinal Tract should be free of any significant disease.

I also looked at NATS ATCO Recruitment Standard Medical Clearence pdf and it says "an initial applicant who has an established medical history of clinical diagnosis of acute or chronic inflammatory bowel disease are likely to be unacceptable but may still be investigated and subject to the opinion of a gastroenterologist acceptable to NATS with the final decision on acceptability being made by TATC Medical Review Group (TRMG)"

I am currently on Asacol (mesalamine) and will be pretty much forever, am also taking a course of steriods until the middle of January. Now of course the thing with Crohns is that it could flare up every so often and i'l have to take steriods to reduce the inflammation.

Does anyone know what the chances are of me actually being able to pass the medical if i was to get that far?

Presumably I need to inform NATS asap?

Thanks in advance for any info

gazb2 30th November 2010 11:38

I'm no doctor mate, but I know a guy that failed his medical for having a slightly curved spine...I think they are incredibly strict when it comes to the medical exam.

However, like I say - I'm no doctor. I'd personally inform NATS and see what they say before you start the process....just my opinion however.

Best of luck to you

Crazy Voyager 30th November 2010 12:00

Inform NATS about it and they can most likely ask their doctors or direct you to someone who can answer. I belive you're much better off getting this over with now (don't wait to pass all 3 stages and find out in the end, it will have cost you a lot of time and money to no use). But HR should be able to help you out if you get in touch with them.

AArkley 30th November 2010 12:33

Well,

At least 1 person I know of has been invited to Stage 2.

Happy hunting :)

sambatc 30th November 2010 12:53

seems a little odd when people who took their stage 1s on the 11th and 12th are still waiting :ugh:

unrealdream 30th November 2010 13:04

Sambatc - When do you think we should start bombarding them with phonecalls? I took it on the 11th in the morning, so I reckon it's fair game to start phoning on Thursday afternoon!

sambatc 30th November 2010 13:26

well i'm flying to thailand on friday evening so I'm gonna be quite annoyed if I go away not knowing! I think that's what's going to happen though... :(

I emailed them the other day with a related question and got a reply the following day, so an email on the 15th day (assuming we don't get our results) *might* get you a reply (with results!) the following day??

unrealdream 30th November 2010 13:38

Yeah, I don't think they're going to be turning up without a bit of prompting :(

It might be worth you dropping them an email on Thursday to say that you're going away and won't have internet access. They might reply on the Friday with your results.

You never know, miracles may happen and we may get them tonight!

BarryK 30th November 2010 13:44

Ok, I've got my stage 2 on Monday, going down Sunday night. I don't care how long it takes me to get there, I'm bloody well going to get there! Better not get cancelled, I've taken annual leave for this!!!!!!

PhiltheReaper 30th November 2010 14:06

Best of luck BarryK!!

Also, Sambatc: good luck on sourcing your results before you go away!

I'm still quite a way off the 15 working days having only taken my stage 1 on 24th November.

I've heard the Stage 2, it helps to know about Flight Plans.

Comments?

Hi,

In my case, I sent my application on a Thursday at 13:30 and got an answer the following day at 16:00, inviting me to do the online test. I did the test the following day (Saturday) at 11:00 and got an answer on Monday at 10:00, inviting me to attend Stage 1. So, you see, everything went rather smoothly and quickly!

Best of luck! :ok:

SOUTHWALESO 30th November 2010 18:21

Thanks dcoliv, do they inform you if you fail or pass? or just if you pass?

Thanks

dcoliv 30th November 2010 20:01

I think they inform you either way, but I'll confirm in a month or so. I'll attend Stage 1 in a week :)
