No 4th lgw flight.

Emirates shelves planned 4th daily London Gatwick flight due Oct 2016 :: Routesonline

Wycombe 22nd September 2016 14:24

Great! I'm booked (with family) on EK23 on 31/10. Guess we'll get moved to one of the other flights.

Edit: logged onto booking and looks like we've already been moved to the EK9, which is ok by me :-)

Interesting that EK would cancel this only 9 days before it was due to start though.

New route to Fort Lauderdale, Daily on a 777-200LR

Seems odd to choose FLL over MIA, wonder if they couldn't get the slots they wanted.

Seljuk22 11th October 2016 17:36

Read the article and you'll see that JetBlue has a major hub in Ft. Lauderdale (like they have in Orlando) and EK will code share with them.

QR choosed MIA as oneworld partner AA has a hub there.

I was just thinking that as Emirates were thinking about operating into MEX with a stop in between (not sure if the stop would need to be inbound/outbound/both) and have just announced FLL, they could maybe do DXB-FLL-MEX and have 5th freedom rights on FLL-MEX. Thoughts?

EK77WNCL 18th October 2016 00:58

They'd be shooting themselves in the foot there because I believe Mexican passengers flying MEX-DXB/MEX-DXB-XXX would require an American visa if the aircraft touches down on American soil

Silly, I know. It has a huge turnaround in FLL so tagging on to MEX wouldn't be too difficult, if it didn't preclude the majority of passengers from using the service

I think they should look at tagging it with HAV/CUN/SJU etc. I think Cancun makes the most sense

LGWAlan 18th October 2016 12:15

And HOW would CUN be different to MEX - both in Mexico. Make your mind up as to the economic and commercial benefits to the airline and not just what spotters wish to see

EK77WNCL 18th October 2016 15:35

Quite simple. It's elevation is about 7300ft lower than MEX, which means a 77L/77W/A380 could fly direct CUN-DXB, whereas they can't do MEX-DXB

It's pretty safe to say the only reason EK don't already serve MEX is because of the elevation

Nothing to do with spotters...

Tim Clark visited Bournemouth for the opening of the new daily Bournemouth Dubai service.... oh correction... I mean the opening of the cabin interiors factory by AIM aviation. Really hope Tim was drawn by the attributes of the airport and wealthy catchment area

canberra97 24th December 2016 17:06

Nakata77

Your getting carried away with yourself regarding Emirates and BOH just like a certain individual on the Bournemouth forum!

BOH and Emirates will NEVER happen full stop.

is EK launching paid-for Business Class and First lounge access? That could be useful for (a few) willing economy passengers, using some of the lovely outstation lounges ie LHR, GLA etc.

They are but at USD100 per person I can't see them getting too many takers!
