The A330s and A340s are gone; it'll be a B733 operating the route - same as on the current DXB-LCA-ATH route.

And the outgoing is a day flight at 09.15 instead of the deathly 03.30 departure.

Trump's laptop ban is having the desired effect then!

BHX also sees a cut from 3 daily to 2 daily eff 01 Sep.

Can always rely on you to be highlighting the bad news for BHX.

China Pattern
Apart from the fact I've not mentioned any BHX bad news for a very long time despite things like Europwings cutting HAM and so on. Maybe less petty comments and more constructive posting eh? |

If MAN's early morning EK flights work, why can't the BHX early morning one work?
|
I see that Emirates is dropping routes owing to the laptop ban.
Emirates To Reduce US Flight Frequencies | Airwise News The question is where will the traffic go? The US Majors & European airlines obvious hope to them but will there be the capacity available, particularly from the smaller airports on the Indian sub-continent, at least in the short term? Will traffic switch to other airlines or be lost altogether? One thing is for certain, as said elsewhere the biggest loser is the passenger. |
Something for Sir Tim Clark to consider when placing the next large aircraft order?.
|
So what are the real choices? I can't see United being a winner after recent events. Also American carriers have a poor customer service rating compared with ME carriers. BA are looking to reduce their product even further. My guess is instead of direct flights from the Gulf to the USA the European carriers will win out. Carriers such as Swiss and Lufty.
I'm surprised the DXB-ATH-EWR hasn't been cut back in this latest cull. |
The 6th freedom routes with stops en route make even more sense for EK as the ban on laptops in cabins does not apply from European airports such as ATH or MXP.
AC has recently stopped its seasonal YVR - DEL service but AI is still flying SFO - DEL six times a week. Maybe it is routes such as this which will win out. - assuming that the ban is long term which we don't know. Would any airline want to add capacity when the ban could have ended by the time the extra seats come on line? Does anyone know what the load factor is like on EK's US routes? Reading the trade press it seems that Trump's ban on certain nationalities, which are the ones likely to transit via the Gulf airports, has reduced the number travelling, but I don't know if it is long term what with the courts ruling it illegal. |

We were booked on early flight (both ways) now having to fly out evening before and come back at lunchtime. |
