I believe that on the last list I saw, I am 11th in rank, so can't see me getting a vaccination before the end of the summer, even though Hancock has this wonderful ambition to get us all done by Easter. Once everyone has been offered vaccination, there should be constraints placed on those people who have chosen not to have it in the areas of life I laid out.

So giving that it will be at least a year before the masses under 40 are eligable, you're suggesting in the meantime that the whole Leisure/Hopitality/Travel industry should take at least another year sitting it out waiting for their client base to be vaccinated ?

How do you prove you are healthy ? Get a jab but then what about TB ? or other communicable diseases or cancer or a whole host of other ailments ?

It's very simple, if you want the privileges then get vaccinated. If you don't want to get vaccinated, then don't travel. Same should go for other situations such attending public indoor events such as cinema, concerts, perhaps even pubs and restaurants. Vaccination should be a free choice, but with drawbacks if you make the choice not to receive it.

So how do you prove it ? Should people wear a star especially if they don't use phone apps.

And amazing this wonder Vaccine has no side effects on anybody. Isn't science wonderful but what happens when it has side effects ?

That's why they carried clinical trials on tens of thousands of people. Not just to show that it works as a vaccine.

And what about long term effects?

There's a very good reason vaccine development normally takes 10 years not 10 months. Even the drug companies know all this and have all placed 'no law suit' clauses in their supply contracts.

as far as I can tell death from Covid 19 is a very long term effect.
Come on - whats your solution then?

And a number or less good reasons.

Much of the typical 10 years gestation for a new vaccine is waiting around for the regulators to get their act together. Nothing to do with having to wait that long for side-effects to appear.

I don't think there's a good solution to any of this. But I don't agree with some of the views that 'you can't do this if your not vaccinated'

If I was in an "at risk" category or over 80 then yes I'd be banging on the door for the vaccine obviously. The short term benefits far outweigh any potential long term issues.

But take myself for instance, I'm in a category that takes up less than 1% of total deaths and the mortality rate of the disease in general is far less than 1%.

So to put bluntly am I more at risk from the disease or the very rushed vaccine?

The simple answer is we don't know. And won't know for years.

Is that th half dose or the full dose ? Wonder how the scientists are explaining why a half dose was more effective than a full dose ?

The reason that most vaccines take so long is because it's not a money-spinner for the drug companies. They prefer treatments which you have to take for years and years.

Suddenly everyone is a virologist!

Get back on topic... :ugh:

But Wales still insist travel abroad is not allowed, therefore no holidays abroad, so for me who lives in North Wales (20 miles from border), I could visit family/friends in Cheshire but I can't go a few miles further inland to Manchester Airport...so no complete agreement on the travel situation overall!
This is the way I am reading it...please correct me if I'm completely or partial wrong.

If you live in a tier 3 area in England after 2nd December you are still meant to be avoiding travelling outside the tier 3 area but you can still travel directly to an airport and fly abroad except there are not many places to fly to that has no restrictions either imposed by the government or the government of the country being visited.

The vaccine wimps still offer no alternative solutions back to a normal life. Christmas celebrations will bring misery to some in the New Year when an infected family member passes the virus on to wider family members.

In around 2 to 4 weeks time America will be making the headlines again due to a new spike in cases and deaths due to Thanksgiving celebrations. At the moment just over 2,000 Americans die each day. Before Christmas arrives that will increase to close to 3,000 Covid deaths a day. Then there is the continuing economic damage. How many more years do the wimps want this to continue?

As it was before the cell phone existed! The yellow book with the vaccination stamps (from authorised centres). It still exists because you need some vaccines to be able to enter in some countries (yellow fever is an example).
Not so much difficult.

You know what LTNman. This whole episode has turned you into a vile individual who seems to be only able see things from a very one-eyed perspective. In fact I'd even go as far as to say all the extra spare time on your hands has turned you into a troll. Very sad.

The 'wimps' as you put it are only asking questions that have yet to be answered in full.

Not so much difficult.

But the yellow book is currently only used relatively rarely - can the infrastructure be provided for checking vaccinations en masse for a summer European holiday season?

i think most people have one sided views as this dreaded virus divides nations and neighbours. We have the mask wearers and those that won’t wear one. Of course questions need to be asked and many of those asking questions will still take a vaccine even if reluctantly. Many no doubt won’t but will hope others will so they can go back to their two weeks in the sun off the back of others who were perhaps a little braver, which is maybe touching a raw nerve.

I guess it all comes down to the perceived risk. Is it more risky to take a vaccine or hope that you and family members don’t catch the virus that will kill millions over time. I guess time will tell who was right or wrong. We could all wait for 10 years to pass to see if the vaccine is as safe as they claim or we take it on trust that scientists are correct. Maybe that indeed is a big ask.

I can live with pathetic name calling for asking what is the alternative to a vaccine as no one has ever come up with an answer, not even you.

No not a raw nerve at all. I just find it incredible that people are ridiculing those who are daring to question the vaccine.
