According to whom?

highwideandugly 10th Feb 2018 18:19

Hi guys..any ideas as to the lucky airline putting their reputation on the line yet?

Harry Wayfarers 10th Feb 2018 18:43

Well the airline is clearly Stobart Air, now should they opt to sub-contract that work to another carrier it won't be that carrier's reputation on any line, they are merely acting as a sub-contractor to Stobart Air

highwideandugly 17th Feb 2018 17:06

Come on guys..any news on airline, schedule ,prices and dates yet?

tophat27dt 17th Feb 2018 17:15

Only Stobarts can answer your question. Our crystal balls rarely tell the facts.

Stobart Rail & Civils are moving their H/O to a CAX site in June to coincide with the re-opening of the airport to commercial traffic with another site relocating there later in the year.
Will these moves be into areas within the new "terminal" building currently under construction?.

SWBKCB 20th Feb 2018 11:21

Yes - the terminal will be located in part of the new office building.

ara01jbb 20th Feb 2018 11:27

Southside bobby - if you do a rudimentary search of the local planning authority’s applications page, you’ll find detailed plans. It is basically 75% office and 25% passenger terminal. Very low cost steel frame and steel cladding, not designed to win any architectural prizes or conserve energy.

southside bobby 20th Feb 2018 11:35

Thanks for the info.

So was the near £5m local grant provided to Stobart for the terminal structure & airfield enhancement also to provide a brand new H/O?.. as I failed to read that in the CAX press releases.

SWBKCB 20th Feb 2018 11:38

I think it was for the runway.

Expressflight 20th Feb 2018 12:15

Yes it was for the runway and associated infrastructure.

southside bobby 20th Feb 2018 14:04

Head of Corporate Projects at Stobart Group on 23.1.18 stated "the work to lay a new runway & construct the terminal would not have been possible were it not for a near £5m invest from Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership".

Would I interpret correctly reading between the lines with info from posters & the Stobart statement that the cost of a brand new H/O is provided from within the grant monies then?.

Carlisle Airport Enhancements
Delivery of infrastructure necessary to facilitate the development of scheduled air services. The airport has suffered from a lack of investment which has meant missed opportunities to increase tourism and inward investment. The enhancements will include improvements to the airport’s runway including reprofiling the runway surface, alterations to runway drainage, the installation of new aerodrome ground lighting and resurfacing works to taxiways. Passenger terminal facilities and car parking facilities would also be improved. These improvements would open Cumbria up to more international visitors, a key
priority for maximising the potential of Cumbria’s tourism sector.

I don't know for certain, but would expect this to be match funding, and any funding for the building to be restricted to the terminal element - given that the office element is just moving people down the road (so displacement, not growth).

southside bobby 20th Feb 2018 15:35

Thanks for the research & as stated above is what one could reasonably expect & in the case would appear perfectly equitable...

Certainty would be welcome however.

highwideandugly 21st Feb 2018 17:53

Anyone in the know...how long pre a schedule service start up,would you start to advertise and even sell tickets..to actually make a success or even go of it?
