Don’t worry about the negative comments the same was said when SEN started CAX will do very well I know from local excitement and enthusiastic locals as well as my local geographic knowledge of the area that CAX will do much better than people think the moaners know nothing they just think they talk the talk but they will be eating their words this time next year.

Maybe they could lease a Dornier 328 to reduce the flight times? Skyworks have just withdrawn their last airframe.

They have. A shame though because a D328 would be preferable to a SF340.

Can you do any form of B.O.B service on Loganair 340. Sorry for question as not that familiar with the type.

From a source in Carlisle. Will the operation get CAA approval for the airport,ATC and Controlled Airspace in time for the start up date?

There is no need for controlled airspace and no chance of it happening by the start up date of mid summer as there has not been an application for any airspace

I doubt that the CAA would look favourably on an application for controlled airspace with the anticipated level of activity at CAX.

I agree but will they need ATCOs? At the moment I believe they only have AFISOs.

They already have been advertising for air traffic controllers...etc

The published service is ATC, not AFIS. By NOTAM it can be reduced to A/G. The service is suspended of course while the airfield is closed to fixed wing aircraft. The extended hours of operation to accommodate the scheduled flights will presumably give rise to higher staffing levels , hence the recruiting.

If June is the opening time and services commencing then..how will the ATCOs be trained in time? Thought it took a while to get up to speed with licenses etc? I know DTV have been through a difficult time for the same reason and still have closures..they also have a lot more traffic to practice with?

I'm guessing that CAX doesn't have radar so if it's just visual control then not much training involved, if I cared to put the clock back some 40 years I could do it myself but I'm having too much of a good time where I am!

Control of IFR flights in a non-radar environment is procedural, not visual.

In my day looking out of the windows of a visual control tower was exactly that, visual!

You seem to be suggesting that the ATCOs employed at Carlisle until the airfield was closed for the runway works are no longer employed there and that they will have to recruit new ones. Any evidence for that?
