Summer third party plan is out,

STN - 4 x Titan Airways A321 aircraft
BHX - 1 x Smart lynx A321 aircraft
MAN - 3 x Air Tanker A330 aircraft and 2 x Hi fly A321 aircraft
LBA - 1 x Air Europa B738 aircraft

brian_dromey 27th Dec 2019 18:37

That’s in addition to the 7 A321s and 2(?) 738s added to the main fleet? How does this compare with summer 19?

The 7x Sharklet A321 will be owned by Jet2 and are seperate to any 3rd party aircraft.

JonnyH 28th Dec 2019 10:53

Will NCL get anything additional?

Hi Fly only have 1 A321 available (one is already leased to Belgian Air Force).

Is it not more probable for Manchester, that they are leasing 2 A330's from Hi Fly (they have just acquired 6 A330's) ?

This is from an internal release that was sent out just before Christmas, I’m not pulling aircraft types off the top of my head....

that’s great, probably both Titan and Hi Fly adding to their fleet - there’s still plenty of old TCX airframes about

Clearly whoever wrote the alleged release was not very good at English, aircraft is both singular and plural, as are sheep!

Jet 2 Summer 2020 timetable for Birmingham is now showing 13 based aircraft, 6 A321's and 7 B738s, looks likes most of the A321s will now be Birmingham based.

TCVC & D wont be coming and instead TCDH will be, all other aircraft with the G- prefix in that list including TCDH show "Potential change of Registered Ownership in progress" on G-INFO under REGISTERED OWNER DETAILS.

Congratulations on Jet2 taking up a lot of the slack from TC. How come you guys don't fly to Egypt? Sharm is back online now and Hurghada and Marsa Alam are popular detinations. Luxor is now picking up regarding tourism.

You will note that Jet2 has steered wisely well clear of Egypt and Tunisia.

Only now we just see TUI after 4 years recommence packages to Sharm, and EZY I gather will also start flights again, but hey presto the Gulf and ME again erupts which could spill over once more with security issues.

Jet2 are not daft.

There are no UK charters to Luxor for a long time now - TUI UK stopped theirs.

The Arab Spring Egypt and Tunisia terror attacks killed off
Monarch along with the SSH shutdown after Metrojet crash

- The loss of their huge market share to Egypt was immense for MON.

The simple answer is, we don’t need to take the risk. We have enough to do with developing the destinations that we have, and expanding the bases we have to serve those destinations with a suitable frequency.

Given the escalation of trouble in Iraq/Iran, Turkey has already said there could be attacks on tourists in the region. It bound to make people nervous about travelling to the Middle East.

Flying Hi 8th Jan 2020 15:23

If the situation in the The Middle East deteriorates and UK Gov revises its Turkey guidance from 'be vigilant' to 'do not travel' it will be I suspect commercialy very bad news for Jet2 who've put a lot of expansion into that program.

It would be a blow, but Jet2 have massively (and cleverly) expanded their Greek flying program with many new routes with 220 flights a week next summer, and if Turkish tourism suffers then it is Greece's gain.

I don't see that happening. The Iran border is right over the other side of the country, and even with ISIS camped on the Turkish border with Syria, people still traveled to Turkey. Plus, no one wants war, least of all Iran.

Luckily for most travel companies, the press has now turned its attention to Prince Harry and Meghan. Therefore taking the attention away from the situation in the Middle east.

Whilst growing their own routes, Jet2 are mainly now filling in for the capacity which was lost from the loss of Thomas Cook.

rog747 9th Jan 2020 12:12

From experience Turkey's tourism to both the beach resorts, and Istanbul sadly does get affected with downturns in bookings when security and unrest occur not just in Turkey, but also in the surrounding ME and the Gulf regions.
Folk do get nervous and will stay away and book elsewhere - the past few summers have shown that with 50% down in 2015 and 2016.
Few Western tourists now visit IST compared to 5 or so years ago.
UK Cruise ships no longer call in to Istanbul (a Jewel of a city to visit) nor also at Kusadasi (for Ephesus) - The UK cruise lines have simply pulled all their ships out of Turkey.

But Brexit uncertainty saw a huge rise in summer 2019 bookings to Turkey BUT that was lost with the loss of 800000 future bookings due to the collapse of Thomas Cook.

Jet2 obviously hope to pick up plenty of that potential business for summer 2020 but Turkey still remains a volatile destination.

compton3bravo 9th Jan 2020 13:24

Sorry rog cruise ships will still call at Istanbul this summer including Marella (TUI to me an you) and Fred Olsen are doing a Black sea cruise this autumn.

Flying Hi 9th Jan 2020 13:49

Well FWIW THE Flying Hi's have just put their money down on a Bodrum BJV holiday for May, forsaking Spain and the Canaries.
Just about as far from ME hotspots as you can get without being in Kos. Lol.

ssflyer 9th Jan 2020 16:15

Flying Hi's
And the SS sprogs have just booked a Jet2 holiday to Bodrum from BHX for July.
Price and hotel quality beat Cyprus hands down.
