The hifly 380 that positioned into cdg yesterday is still on the ground there. 26 hours later.

What TCX activity is there at CDG? Its not really much handier than the HiFly homebase

It was originally listed as bound for LGW then changed its destination mid flight.

Why is that odd? Positioning to cover for another flight?

Every little moment is going to be scrutinised isn't it.

Guys let’s be semi sensitive towards the thousands of uk staff who will face a horrible few months in the event that things go t**s up as is looking likely.

Flight deck and crew will likely find alternative employment fairly easily, however probably not where they want to work but ground based staff of all descriptions will not easily find other similar paid employment.

We know things are ropey, everyone has admitted it, however the random aircraft movements around Europe currently could easily be just that, random movements. Equally they could be something to do with plans being put in place by the caa, who knows and who cares. If TC go we will all find out which movements are for caa and which aren’t.

Its worth keeping in mind that other things are also happening within aviation, there’s a French airline just going south also so some movements could be to do with that.

Chin up all involved. Sadly nobody here can influence the outcome either way. I for one am hoping for the best, I’m due on a charter flight in October ;)

THOMAS COOK

Well as we are all hoping that Thomas Cook doesn't go bust the deadline line seems to be tonight and the feeling is if you don't have a deal in place tonight with the money guaranteed then it's good bye Thomas Cook.

Now things have started to move on with flights positioning for recover flights just like Monarch collapse

Enroute to Manchester is 9M-MNF A380 due around 0030hrs tonight no other reason for this aircraft to operate empty into Manchester other than to cover TCX flights
Enroute to Shannon is a Eastern B763 N703KW along with 2 others already on the ground
Currently sat at CDG is 9H-MIP A380 HiFly was due into LGW but went to CDG at last minute

Manchester and Gatwick are full overnight with based aircraft especially MAN with building work going on believe me after 1am your lucky to find parking spots for aircraft now MAN and Gatwick will be the two main airports for relief flights and bases for aircraft operating these but until flights actually start it makes sense to park aircraft within a hours flight of MAN and LGW then position out and collect passengers and return to MAN or LGW or even call in on outward flight quick stop and go.

It was listed as bound for LGW on FR24, a data source that is about as accurate as the average Sun reporter.

Odd that it hasn't occurred for the whole of summer ops and aircraft is needed to fulfil the full program starting again at 0500hrs tomorrow.
Which flight at BHX did you have in mind?

Going to be hard to get an exact figure, however, in the event of collapse that isn't going to leave anything left going forward.

I think what continues to amaze me is there must be a number of people still travelling on holidays without insurance and/or cover for airline failure.

The ATOL fund wouldn't necessarily be cleaned out. The 160,000 will include both ATOL and non-ATOL protected holidaymakers abroad. If the cost of repatriation was, say, £150m (£600m seems way too high when compared pro rata with the Monarch figure - that equates to £3,750 per pax) and let's say 2/3 were ATOL protected, the ATOL fund would pay £100m leaving £50m for the govt to pick up (assuming they paid for non-ATOL protected repatriates as in the Mon case). So the fund would still have £70m left, and we don't know if TCX had lodged a previous bond with the CAA that may increase that figure. Even allowing for a fair amount of leeway in these guestimates, the cost to the govt would be quite a bit less than £200m I suspect, and they may be able to recover some of this - don't forget there will be considerable money on the balance sheet as there was with Monarch as it will have just hit its high point for the year.

360 radar so that's what it's ADS was saying, and the Sun have been saying Thomas Cook is going bust and thats pretty damn accurate

There was a hefty delay to an Antalya-Glasgow the other night, more than likely that was sent up to get everything back on track and now it’s heading back to where it came from.

ADS-B does not send route or destination data.

erm, isn't that the one they've just acquired from Singapore Airlines, needs to have the interior reconfigured etc before going into service? As Singapore want their premium cabin stuff back.

Do you have a source for that? Because it doesn’t. Neither Mode-S elementary or enhanced surveillance provide a downlink of the destination or route.

I have a flight booked to NY in November, booked through TC but operated by Air Tanker, I assume this will still get binned should the worst happen?

Sorry, don’t wish to be insensitive, I’ve been made redundant myself in the past due to poor management so I do feel for everyone involved. I know I’ll get my money back on my credit card so it’s not a big deal for me.

Just curious
