To echo the recent comments - can those low lives who seem to be getting off on the troubles of a major airline / travel company / employer of people / supporter of people's livelihoods just take a look at themselves in the mirror.
What pleasure do you get out of noticing that say a TC plane is parked in a different place than normal and posting it on here as some portent of doom?
If you need to get off on something go watch some porn instead of logging on to this site with your malicious nonsense.
Those who can will do their best to save this company so don't interfere with your amateur uninformed ramblings. This affects real people's lives!
(I have no interest in TC directly or indirectly)

As with most of the travel industry I am 100% behind Thomas Cook, as well as their retail network and tour operator, there are a lot of small tour operators and independent travel agents who rely on Thomas Cook for seats and holidays. This is likely to have a massive domino effect on the many independent companies as well as some of the big online travel agencies failing, leading to many more job losses if the worse did happen. So all the keyboard warriors spreading this nonsense please put your brain in to gear before typing. #supportthomascook

Well said. And while it’s clear that government policy, probably rightly, is against helping companies in such situations there are good grounds for an exception here. The demand for extra contingency funding of £200m tacked onto the restructuring at a late stage may cause the very thing it was contingent against, derailing an otherwise viable restructuring. That makes no sense, particularly from a government-owned bank which WAS bailed out with hundreds of billions of taxpayers money. The cost of a recovery operation if needed will be many times this figure. And that’s without considering the wider costs to the economy.

This is much bigger than just airplanes folks. Countless jobs in the air and the ground are at risk here. Idol chat cost lifes

Clearly this is bad news for the industry . I certainly feel the pain that those working for TCG are suffering. Hopefully many will stay in the sector with different companies.
This should not come as a shock to investors as its been clear for a year this was doomed.
Its carrying far to much debt and a network of expensive shops that are not needed today. Its no different to retail suffering at the hands of Amazon etc.

I do feel for those who have saved for holidays and who may no longer get them.
The chances of this surviving this week are under 1% now............. so system's must be put in place to look after customers and staff.
The ones I feel no sympathy for are the bankers and advisors who have milked this company dry.

You know, there's no such thing as economy. There are individual companies.

Whilst idol chit chat is never truly helpful, a lot discussed here is fact. “Aircraft on stand blah blah...” fact.

Whilst those on their soap box may think we can make all the difference, we can’t unfortunately. Thomas Cook is a PLC, and as such, it’s affairs are public and rightly come under scrutiny by the press.

The company is in dire straits, nobody can deny that and at this stage there is little that we can say or do to change that. This is nobody else’s doing but Thomas Cook.

Sure, there will be employees on here, of which I know many having worked for Thomas Cook in the past. However, I remember a Monarch crew member once saying that the info on forums such as this was helpful in the hours running up to that airlines demise.

I don’t think anyone is going down the route of wild speculation.

Helpful?

I can tell you that it’s not helpful.

Just in case the worst happens, I would recommend downloading anything you can from company servers - things like pay slips, tax info, training records, evidence of hours etc. Hopefully it won’t be needed!

There's a hifly 380 inbound to the UK in the air right now, positioning in from base at beja

Edit (its rightly been pointed out its now going into France, original routing showed going into lgw)

Hifly A380 heading to the UK means nothing so again, cease the speculation.

I'm afraid it's going to France...

[Removed as I've later found out that the info wasn't correct]

I appreciate this tread is about Thomas Cook Airlines UK (TCX) but what's about Condor and Scandies? Thomas Cook in mainland Europe have more customers currently abroad than UK, is the same thing happening in Germany and Condor?

Looks like all TCX outbound from BHX took off on time this morning and as yet no further outbounds affected by cancellations. What’s your source for your statement?

If you are not sure, say nothing, you could be wrong and have caused enormous distress. Or is that how you get your kicks?

spaflyer 21st Sep 2019 09:28

Chaps, now at 10:25 LT UK, company is operating fully normal, so please STOP with the bull**** of guessing and speculating!!! (Just check Flight Radar and you will see planes going the regular destinations!!)

tomahawk98 21st Sep 2019 09:28

Well this is a rumour forum and as I put above, I'm not sure how accurate the source is (I can't really tell you either...) - Having been in a similar situation towards the start of the year (lost my job over night without any warning), I get what TCX staff are going through.

Pack it in you moron.

Tu.114 21st Sep 2019 09:30

While this is a website that bears the word "rumour" in its very name, a little caution is advisable. Rumours on aircraft impoundings would be easily checked by looking at the Birmingham airport website, where TCX in- and outbound flights are shown to operate normally with no signs of cancellations or, in fact, unusual delays. Also, an A380 heading to the UK is in no way unusual - were it to be planned for repatriations, it would need to go where the repatriatees are, which is by definition not the UK.

Please do try to verify a hearsay, rumour, smoke signal or whatever else might come by you as far as possible before posting it on here.

All the best to the colleagues at TCX; I hope the situation will be resolved and cleared as soon as possible.
