Apparently they are dropping everything except DUB and the AMS services.

Antwerp has been operated since the end of VLM by a subchartered and rickety-looking old ATR42, which despite having an operators' name of Danish Air Transport is actually on the Lithuanian register.

London City's pricing model nowadays does not like aircraft as small as the ATR42. I suspect before too long at the next change of ownership to the next group of investors they may just kill the goose that lays the golden egg here.

AFAIK, AMS will be on KL metal only with the start of the winter schedule and Cityjet only code-shares. So it is back to square one for Cityjet as far as scheduled services are concerned as they started with a single DUB-LCY route 25 years ago. Big question - what will they do with 16 Avro RJ85s then? Retire them early?

As for LCY, it is now down to 12 airlines, with 10 of them serving only 13 destinations in total and the remaining two (BA, BE) another 36 destinations. Looks like a cluster risk...

Bit sad for CityJet given that they tried so hard to innovate and find a niche for themselves.

VLM to take over the Antwerp route from 30 October 2017. Branding similiar to the Belgian VLM, but seems to use the VLM Slovenia AOC

It is shaping up to be a very quiet winter at LCY. With CityJet cuts, BE Cardiff, Aurigny Guernsey and now Skywork all going and only TAP starting, it will be one of the leanest winters on record.

are BE handing back the CWL slots or keeping hold of them ?

I could see them (or BA) adding seasonal NQY-LCY either instead of or in addition too STN

To be honest, I would not put too much money on them until the first aircraft has actually touched down...

Are slots still needed at LCY ? With the reduction of operations I'm presuming most services could operate when required.

Apparently bankrupt Alitalia has got rid of their remaining Heathrow slots. Will there be an upturn in their LCY operations as a result ?

AFAIK, they have moved the LHR ops to STN after they were unable to obtain suitable slots at LGW.

My recollection is somewhat patchy, but I seem to remember a rumour that FCO could be axed from LCY instead of being expanded as one of the flight pairs from STN uses as a flight number currently in use from LCY.

Presumably with Monarch's demise there are plenty of free slots at LGW now.

STN serves much the same catchment area as LCY. Gatwick is a different area completely.

Gatwick and Stansted both serve “London” and are sold as such, not sure they’re completely different areas. The demographics on LCY vs. STN do not align. For Alitalia, they’d likely prefer a LGW operation rather than STN but neither can fix the underlying fault that is......er Alitalia!

There's a report on CH-Aviation that SkyWork have cancelled their flights due to the Swiss DCA not granting the continuation of their AOC, on which they had recently placed a time restriction pending financial restructuring by the airline. At this time the booking engine on their website still seems operational.

Update: Their website has a statement from the CEO of SkyWork saying that flights planned for 29th October have been suspended while they work to find a solution to their difficulties. A decision going forward is hoped to be made today.

One thing noticeable is the reduction in operations at the "shoulders" of the peak, eg bit too early, 0630-0700, or bit too late, 0900-0945. These tend to have movements that can't get better times. There can be only 6 movements before 0700, a year or two ago it was all airlines, now I notice business jets getting slots there as well, and even so all the opportunities not filled.

When was the 0630-0700 window opened? I well remember the BA002 having to touch down at 0700 and not before.

It's always been there, but there is a restriction that there can only be 6 operations in that time, of which no more than 2 can be before 0645. If all 6 have gone then the incoming JFK flight may hold until then. BA may have their own priorities on what they want to get in/out in the earlier window, which tends to fluctuate from day to day. LCY will also have a procedure on how things are prioritised between operators. The JFK is scheduled in at 0715 but not unknown for it to get there on the nose of 0630. Normally it all works out. You can never be quite certain when the JFK arrival is going to come in because, transatlantic winds aside, it depends very much on how the delays were departing from New York.

Adria have terminated the agreement with Powdair. EX-YU Aviation News: Adria Switzerland terminates PowdAir contract

Now it will be operated by Backbone. Type Unknown as they can't operated their own CRJ into LCY.
