Was expected to be sometime this week... not sure if anything's changed however.

1. The trains are ludicrously expensive these days and you're lucky if you get a seat unless you book first class or super early.
2. Flybe operate largely a monopoly from a lot of their bases.
Given these two points how can they still be loss making?

Trains are generally not ludicrously expensive if booked in advance. Passengers expect still to pretty much turn up and travel on trains as they have been used to whereas they expect to book in advance for air travel.
For example recently traveled Milton Keynes Glasgow return with one large bag booked one week ahead (£84). Point to point neither LTN (Easy) or Flybe (BHX) were competitive on time or fares.

Precisely. And when the media compare train and plane prices they always compare the full fare, turn up and go, refundable, train price and the the advance, inflexible, non-refundable plane ticket.

MAN-SOU on the 13th of December, returning on the 14th, flyBe is about £115 return, the train 227.00 (cheaper fares are available at different times, the cheapest trains are ~£115). The flight takes an hour, plus commute to/from airports, the train 4h15m for the direct options. I don't think there is much in it from a time or convenience point of view - these will vary depending on actual endpoints. It is interesting that one of the poorer intercity train companies can command a higher fare relative to air travel.

Are both of these prices for open, flexible tickets? If your meeting finished early, or you had to stay an additional xtra night, what would it cost to rebook?
I agree that SOU is awkward to get to, either slow, quite frequent, but direct, or, usually quicker via London but needing to change stations. There's a reason why SOU is central to the Flybe network.

As far as i'm aware, there's been no press release even for reassurance either from the CEO or anyone else senior? I think the only news has been the Stobart NQY route which hardly directs attention... It's almost as if they're wanting the share price to continue to drop...
Releasing the remainder of the summer 2019 schedules and making a song and dance about it would create positivity, stimulate bookings and pull people away from the negativity of this "profit warning" headline... Again something they seem have been holding off on for long enough now?

Thomas Cook hit lower than that, I think it was 10p sometime around 2011/12 before shooting up to £1.80 within a year or so. I think the chance of BE shares doing that are slim to nonexistent, but at current low levels even a rise of a few pennies gives big returns. Such rises could come from takeover talk for instance.

There is one media report today pointing to possible base closures but it's all very vague at this point:
Flybe to axe Belfast to Liverpool service from end of December - The Irish News
There was another interesting statement by Loganair yesterday which basically says the same what flybe posted in their trading update:
https://buyingbusinesstravel.com/fea...nkles-loganair
They do not expect to return to profit before 2019 and "the outlook generally is not all rosy." and then
"It’s certainly getting tougher and tougher in the industry as a whole.”He points to downward pressure on yields as customers expect cheaper fares against a background of currency movements that do not favour an industry that purchases in dollars.“A third of our cost base suddenly became one-third more expensive after (the vote for) Brexit, it equates to 10 per cent increase in overall costs. It’s challenging to be able to withhold that – the trading environment is such that you can’t pass that directly onto customers.”In addition, airlines are increasingly being hit by delay claims under EU 261, he says. Hinkles blames the compensation culture of ‘no win, no fee’ lawyers. “They are trying to push that even to include weather delays,” he adds.Another burden for the industry is the rise in airport charges, often to fund major infrastructure projects. “They are rising at six, seven, eight per cent this year. There’s no way we can recover that through ticket prices.”The industry will also have to cope with the oil price rise this year. “It will have an impact for us on the portion we have not hedged, but if the price stays there, the whole industry will run out of hedging. We have hedging in place for fuel and currency, but no-one has that in place for the end of time.”
It really looks like that we will see more market concentration over the next 6-12 months. And I don't expect IAG and alikes to be involved in this.

Summer 2019 on sale
Further flights have finally been released for sale until 18.9.19. So far, mainly as an extention to those already on sale and have not spotted any major changes which is actually a good thing all considering.

Hopefully they get some good revenue from these forward bookings and keep afloat. I have no issues with the airline and wish all involved good luck onwards throughout the winter.
