What a pity. I have used them a couple of times a year for the last few years, particularly for journeys awkward by car (to Newquay) . Some routes are vital for parts of Britain to have decent connectivity to major cities. If easyJet and others complained about possible government bail outs, they should now step in and take over those routes.

Flybe entered Administration on 5 March 2020 and Alan Hudson, Joanne Robinson, Lucy Winterborne and Simon Edel of EY have been appointed as Joint Administrators.All flights have been grounded and the UK business has ceased trading with immediate effect.

The staff deserved so much more than the limp and incompetent management they got over the years. And it is mismanagement that is to blame. COW blamed everyone and everything when she was there, maybe with the exception of Jesus. Best of luck to all.

The collapse was inevitable. The attention now turns to some airports like Belfast Harbour and Southampton. Are they now viable without the majority of staff being made redundant? Are they viable with the remaining fixed costs?

I’m gutted for everyone. Having been through it my self only a few months ago this news is devastating.
My thoughts are with the staff and their families. There is help out there, from BALPA ect, just don’t be scared to say I need it.

If it wasn’t already, it is reaffirming that the industry right now is in crisis. Arguably worse than waking up on 9/12.
Getting jobs in the current climate - not just with COVID-19 but also the climate lobby having increasing sway. It is probably the worst possible timing.

A sad day - we flew with them at the weekend, seemed a good bunch (hand luggage was the only small quibble, but ultimately sorted!) and would use again!
I do wonder if this is an administration designed to get rid of debts etc, which will then re-emerge in a few days/weeks/months as a separate airline without the previous baggage. We shall see, i suppose.

Looks like Blue Islands stepping in with some additional/Flybe replacement flights between the Channel Islands and EXT and BHX today.
Also accepting at the airport bookings for £50 all in for flights to and from the islands today (for people without a booking), and hoping to have their own booking engine back online within a few days.
Good for them.

Flybe were a subsidiary company of Connect Airways. All of i's assets are now in control of the administrators.
In order to take up the leases on the Q400s Connect Airways would have to shell out more millions

Is Connect Airways still going? And weren’t they supposed to be getting A220s? Just wondering if this is a convenient way of getting rid of the Q400 fleet and emerging with out all the baggage of Flybe?

I believe SOU is viable without a doubt. Superb rail station and fast trains West and to London. This should mean alternative airlines step in pretty soon. Certainly Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Paris which have been served consistently over the last 20 years
