More faith in the VS/DL partnership for new or enhanced US destinations. Detroit made it onto this rumour network and even made a brief appearance on the VS website - someone prob got a kicking for publishing that page!

manchester-Detroit is still on the VS website, but, it looks like it's because that page wasn't edited during the website update.

Norwegian have cancelled all slots held for the B737-MAX this summer.

Will instead operate the existing routes with TFS going 3 weekly and ALC also going up to 3 weekly. A 4 weekly PMI will also operate but no long haul.

Not 100% sure what has happened, but seems to be conflicting reports that another airport offered a better deal, and another report says the MAX is delayed so won't enter service until after the summer?

No ideas as to the actual truth though.

LAX_LHR interesting. By any chance do you know which airport is it that's offered Norwegian a better deal, BHX, LPL or LBA by any chance or somewhere else?

They applied on 12Jan for slots to operate at Dublin, daily SWF and five per week on Providence. Start date July, as the Manchester flights were originally down to be. That was a new slot request so I'd guess that's what they must be gearing up to do.

Not sure that the 737 Max has been delayed. Internet reckons they are due 2 in May and 4 in June. Is that enough time to get multiple new long haul operations with new kit started in S17. Probably wise to hold off until W17. Here's hoping! I need a cheap regular flight MAN-LAX!

Anyway, reckon the big US airlines will have someone to listen to their arguments on the 21st and his mantra is "buy American, hire American!" Wouldn't be surprised if Norwegian's DoT approval is overturned.

Norwegian: If it does turn out to be DUB instead of MAN, perhaps of lesser concern than had it been a more local airport. That said, after Ken O'Toole's comments about long haul developments dragging and now the B737MAX flights not happening, the flurry of announcements that were expected, or hoped for, in the New Year seems to be dwindling. TCX to CPT is welcome for a limited period next winter, but is there anything left to come for this summer that we don't already know about?

Short haul, there is the BACF operation and there was talk of a Vueling base of 2 a/c but the latter has gone quiet. Have easyjet's and Ryanair's schedules been finalised?

In fairness, there are the starts of the new services to SFO, BOS and Muscat to look forward to and the slightly increased CX flights.

DY at DUB could well be part of FR deal which reportedly is close.

Vueling didn't hand back their based aircraft slots for the summer by the Jan 15th deadline, but as yet no recruitment has taken place so probably not going to happen as I think it's too late to get a base recruited and flights on sale in time for May/June (as a side note the Norwegian EDI max base started recruitment a few weeks ago).

If DUB also took the Norwegian flights from MAN then that sucks big time, as it's not like there ain't a significant network in place for the size of country as it was!

An announcement RE: Norwegian Long Haul is expected early February, I believe nothing has changed in that regard. If MAN is included in that... - all I know is 6 aircraft will be on LH to America.

It seems highly unlikely if, as reported, they have returned all slots

MAN will now not be included.

To step away from the doom and gloom, ACL still reporting a 17.6% increase in seats for S17.

Also, flybe have in the past few days, applied to serve a very random route, 16 weekly with 3 flights Mon and Fri. It's a route that nobody saw coming, nor do I give it much chance of success if true.....

Could well be tears of the moon.

That's why I added the caveat of 'if it's true'.

In all fairness, it is not Flybe who have applied, it's Stobart Air. That perhaps gives some indication as to the route. And no, it's not Carlisle.
