MAN has had them in the bag for a while and been busy getting the 'niche' routes like Nuremburg, Brindisi, Tivat, Marseille, Porto and long haul like Boston, Los Angeles, Beijing and Phuket.
Cutting to the chase, Nürnberg is well down the list of German cities for UK tourists, aside of around the Christkindle market in December, and the population of Frankonia isn't so great. I can really see NUE struggling as a route to MAN - as I can to Stansted, though if I was still in my previous job, I for one would have used it - rather than transit via FRA or AMS. I think smaller aircraft and more business orientated service would be a better fit on NUE/MAN but I may find myself eating my hat 12 months down the line!

I'm delighted to see Nuremberg on the departure boards but am surprised at Ryanair going straight in with a daily flight. It's quite common for them to operate a lower frequency to what might be considered more of a niche route.
Not sure how ideal the timings are with an evening departure from MAN - the flight originating in Nuremberg - but no different to the late SAS to CPH or LH to HAM.
That said, it's a city with over half a million population. We tend to think of the British visiting these places for business or leisure but what is the potential for Germans travelling to our part of the world for similar reasons, and even football?
In terms of other (competitor) routes from MAN, I understand Nuremberg is just over 100 miles from its Bavarian big brother, Munich, and 140 miles from Stuttgart.
Just found this from the Routes Shop and unserved destinations from Nuremberg but not sure how current.

If operated daily throughout the year, Ryanair would be providing nearly 138,000 seats, so daily is perhaps ambitious.

I agree that for NUE, daily may be slightly too high, and could see a reduction to 4/5 weekly in time.
However, I'm not sure why you have focused on leisure to measure the potential of the route?
There are many business links to the area too, and as we know, company travel is no longer the reserve of the 'legacy' airlines. You said yourself that had you still been in the business you used to be in, you yourself would have used the route. Surely that says something, if your example could be replaced across the north west, Midlands and possibly even up to Scotland?
I'm not saying the route will be a resounding success, on,y time will judge that one, however, let's not wrote it off before it's even begun. Ryanair are a huge airline, they are not stupid and would have done their homework.

Great news for RYR doing HAM/MAN.
I somehow manage that it's always a sunday evening with a lot of soccer fans aboard..
"Always" packed CRJ900, and always some 100E more than for the return (usually Tuesdays).
Said that, coming to MAN next week. Some major reconstruction ongoing?

Having been to Nuremberg I can thoroughly recommend it for tourists.
However my visits have been primarily business as Nuremberg has a very large fair ground and that attracts many visitors.

I'd be surprised if both MAN - EWR and BHX - EWR aren't upgraded to a 763 by 2018.

From what I've read elsewhere United have plans to upgrade MAN, BHX and a few other European points by the end of next year. Several 763s (I believe up to 26 IIRC) are being re-fitted into a less premium heavy configuration to replace the 757s on the transatlantic runs.

Business class from BHX and MAN to EWR is often overbooked, it's impossible to squeeze any more cargo on them, they have to expand or stagnate. Fully expect AA to be not far behind with some sort of expansion.

Looks a bit strange to me from the web site it states they will use a B735 with 120 seats but the picture on the web page shows a very questionable 2/2 interior.
If I'm correct the B735 max seating configuration is 132 with a 3/3 interior.
It also says they have built their reputation as a luxury carrier by flying VIPs
The cabin looks far from luxurious also they say fly a modern fleet of Aircraft
