June figures
Flights 822 down -18.7%. Rolling total 11,087 up 8.4%
Passengers 85,305 down -19%. Rolling total 1,010,922 down -7.9%
Looks like Southend will drop below 1 million passengers next month.
How many more months until the figures bottom out?

Maribor in June
Isn't that an approximate loading of 68% bearing in mind that 2 (I think) days' flights were operated by A319? Or have my calculations gone completely wrong? Were they not aiming for at least 60%?

If my memory is correct, I believe the first week was operated by the 144-seater A319 (6 flights), one day was the 180-seater A320 (2 flights) for England football fans, the rest were on the 86-seater CRJ900 (20 flights). I believe this equates to a 62% load factor across 28 flights which isn't too bad.

In many ways Southend reminds me of Luton in days gone by and the frustration I felt when Luton seemed to be going nowhere year after year with stagnant growth or worse still dropping passenger numbers.
All I can say is have faith. Southend has everything it needs already in place. Small passenger numbers have a big effect on percentage figures but a couple of new based aircraft will make a big difference. I really can't see a reason why Southend should not hit 2 million in the next 2 or 3 years.

I don't think it matters one jot which airport they use. All most of the passengers want is to arrive at any airport that has the word London in its title. A good win for Southend though.

Rennes and Groningen seem quite successful routes. Let's hope they maintain them and don't play around with the timings like they did with the Dublin service. Probably time to try another couple of destinations - I'm not sure that Munster is really viable.

Wonder what the t&c of the flybe/stobart agreement says about routes, say if stobart wanted to restart DUB and NQY under the BE operation ?
If not, surely they have some sway with EI to try and reinstate the Dublin route under the EIr banner ?

I calculate the Stobart/Flybe route load factors as being:
CFR 39%
RNS 59%
FMO 41%
GRQ 47%
As has already been mentioned CFR is poor due to the competing STN-DOL route which carried 2,195 pax in June at fares as low as 5 Euros one-way. CFR and DOL are always at daggers drawn and the latter provides Ryanair with very large amounts of indirect support funding. It's all down to French regional politics unfortunately with both airports being owned by different local authorities. There is considerable unhappiness among some Normandie taxpayers that DOL provides such a large amount of funding for the STN-DOL route.

Further to recent posts, the newly published Easyjet schedules for March 2016 would indeed appear to confirm beyond doubt that the SEN - Berlin route is being dropped wef late February 2016. A real shame.

Berlin route
If this is true, I would like to know WHY?
I asked the same question when Easyjet dropped the Krakow service.
Don't tell me. The airline wants people to fly from Gatwick and not Southend.
I am sure Stobarts are also very disappointed.
I am beginning to lose all faith in this airline.

With Berlin added to the list I think I am safe in stating that easyjet have dropped well over 50% of the routes they have started at Southend. Can anyone confirm?

The timing of the closure certainly suggests it is not down to underperformance, for if it were the route would cease at the end of summer, or after Christmas at the very latest. Not after the quietest time of year.
Why would they "have it in for Southend" ? They've only been there a relatively short while. The removal of these services does look non-sensical, though. Surely there must be a good reason.
