Well this got ridiculous fast. Mike, your comments are simply proof of enjoying a good whinge, they do not credit the positivity of the organisation. Furthermore the fact you dislike plane noise really makes me wonder why you are part of an aviation site and want more activity out of the little airport?

High wide, which "developing major player airport" are you talking about? As far as I was aware this was a DTV thread?

James..sorry thought that was the real master plan..to get the airport back to former glories??

Anyway on another thread,
Chevron just announced a major deal with another failing airport..Prestwick..OOHH that PEEL could pull a rabbit out if the hat for DTV!
We live in hope with their master plan..

I will resign from the airport to become a binman before that thing adversely affects anyone's quality of life

There's a mistaken assumption here that all aircraft noise is the same - it isn't, type and frequency have a huge impact.

Mike is just another NIMBY who bought a house near an airport then complains about it like its a surprise some aircraft make more noise than others,

I've no idea if he is, but if your attitude is a reflection of that of the owners it doesn't bode well.

Careful SWBKCB. Althoughas always you are completely correct, you talk a lot of sense,however..at the end of the day(and I am sorry CO)the airport per se is treading water.
No major investment,no new routes,no confidence and no positive DETAILS or deals.

This part of the NE needs all the help it can get and sorry guys....its just not getting it?

Dear Robert -Ryan, my scenario, as you probably well know is just a made up description of a possible event, But to boldy say that the Hawk would have "got in" is indeed presumptive in the extreme.
As for your second comments surely you must be aware that all reasonable people have different levels of noise tolerance so to judge others by your own is indeed selfish and un-neighbourly.
And not all people love to complain. Many suffer in silence through the selfish and un-thoughtful actions of others.
Many of our neighbours dreaded the fine summer days when they could not enjoy their outdoor space because that noisy aircraft.
Thank goodness it's gone and does not return.
RR interesting response..pray tell me how ATC would have handled that scenario..paras just jumped...12000 feet. Hawk calls emergency. 15 ne of airport for straight in.
Ermm. Can you para guys hang around for 10 mins please while this guy lands."I think not.
Luckily as stated it never happened..but for the grace of god.
Regardless of what you may think of them, we're dealing with a major PLC and the governing body of one of the most heavily regulated industries there is, so there will have been some form of procedure in place to allow that Hawk to land, and there will have been contingencies for other scenarios as well.

There's a mistaken assumption here that all aircraft noise is the same - it isn't, type and frequency have a huge impact.
Let's say for arguments sake it's Coningsby with Typhoons going off on reheat every 5 minutes on a busy day...my previous comment still applies.

Robert what on earth are you on about, save attempting to scrape up some credibility from your largley irrelevant earlier posts ?

This was I assumed a "reality based" site, though appreciated there are some who question Beafer's posts...................

Have the RAF got enough Typhoons to illustrate that scenario?

The thread is only laughable because fantasy and fiction hold more interest than Fact at DTV.

Yes if the Typhoons are in the circuit.

Teesside used to accommodate up to four jet provosts in the circuit back in the 80s probably noisier than a Typhoon!

Notice more and more ATC closure notams, usually around tea time...are those Parmos really that good that the airfield has to close??
Seriously... not sure it sends a good message out to airlines and ad hoc movements, coupled with the AFS restrictions...?
Surely Peel could get that side of the airfield operations right?

I believe all flights other than emergencies are flight planned so fire cover is available. C130 today came in for cargo fire services were available.A320 last week no problem.

positive news finally

PTT aviation is aiming to have CPL training at DTV in the coming years.

Flybe have also been sniffing around trying to sort out a route from the airport!

Fantastic news, more GA activity almost certainly and potentially a new airline if the deals can be done! Houses still intended for certain sites in the area

What have Flybe been sniffing about for?

I'll keep my fingers crossed, would be great to see! 6 weekly Belfast City to test the water? Going forward DUB with an EI codeshare and a couple of Spanish sun routes to go along with Jersey?

Optimistic, but do-able!
